    Hi Guys,

     

    I'm used to most files on Combat Ace being in the standard Zip format. However, I would desperately like to try out Wrench's new Korean Terrain but, he has saved it in a strange new format I am unfamiliar with. I've tried using the software: 7-Zip File Manager but, it cannot open the file either. Can anyone help me get this file open? I sure would like to create a Korean Ware Ear version of Strike Fighters 2. =(

    I need some advice. I'm a little confused and not sure how to remedy the problem. Can I or can I not run SF2 North Atlantic in combination with all of the other titles available as a large merged installation? I've been trying for the past two days to create a large merged install of every title without success. They are non-modified installs of each game.

     

    I am finding that all of the other Strike Fighter titles do not play nice with the North Atlantic title. The game simply freezes when I click the start mission or start campaign buttons. I also can not get the other titles to update to May 2012 without them freezing as well. I have only been able to run them successfully in the Nov. 2011 version of each older title, excluding the North Atlantic title. I can not figure this out! Any advice would be much appreciated. And thank you for your patience. :scratch:

    If you for example would download The Scandiavian Front, you would notice everything had its spot - Objects, Aircrafts and so on.

    Campaigns are no different. They have their own folder, called "Campaigns." Most Campaigns take this into account and only have to be installed into the main mod folder.

     

    Hence, it becomes .../Strike Figthers 2/Campaigns

     

     

    Hmmmm... Thanks JonathanRL. I wonder what I am doing wrong. I have only had difficulty in trying to install Campaigns downloaded. I will give the Scandinavian Front Campaign a try and report back on my success or lack there of. ;)

    I have been flying in the thirdwire world for around 5 years or so now, and i just witnessed something I hav'nt seen before. After returning home from a succesful mission in my CF-18 I noticed a KC-135 on finals to my airfield. I taxied off the runway and watched as it came in, only to execute a perfect missed approach and go around for another go. Little things like this is what brings me back to these great games. Only managed to catch one pic.

    Very cool indeed! Do remember if you were flying a campaign or is this part of the latest patch?

    When do you hit alt+d (twice)? I tried it in the game but, nothing happened. The displays, white triangle and target remain on my screen shots. What is the proper sequence of events required in order to eliminate the data being displayed on the screen shot? I've never heard of this possibility before in the game.

     

    I tried hitting alt d then hit my "PrtScn" key and then alt d again. And a variety of other sequences to no avail.

    I purchased the early BETA of this sim. The eye candy is outstanding but, I must admit the complexity is a turn off for me. I have no desire to push every button inside the cockpit. If I wanted that kind of realism I'll fly a real aircraft. Even though it is only a Cesna 172 Skyhawk. LOL! With that being said, I would love to have this kind of graphic detail inside a game like Thirdwire's Strike Fighters. I love the Thirdwire series because it let's me get into a number of different aircraft, fly and blow up stuff very quickly. Setting on the ramp and taking 15 minutes to start the aircraft's engines in a game is ridiculous. This is ONLY my opinion and preference. By no means is this statement meant to place A-10C Warthog in a negative light. It is a fantastic piece of software. Just not my thing. Although, I'm still looking forward to the final product.

     

    I must admit I'm still very confused about the whole BETA purchasing experience. I'm not sure if I get the final product for free or if I still have to purchase it once it comes out in retail form. And trying to get each BETA update has been very confusing and difficult as well. I stopped at BETA 2. I believe it is up to BETA 4 now in mid February 2011. I would have liked to have seen an automatic update of the software inside the game itself instead of having to go to web page and physically download the individual BETA updates.

    Sounds like your SF2E.exe are pointed to the wrong folders. Ensure, by looking at the Properties of each one and see which install it's pointing to. It also helps to rename seperate installs to keep some of the confusion down. SF2E NATO4 versus stock SF2E, etc.

     

     

    Thanks guys... much appreciated guidance! After investigating further I discovered to my amazement that the "Add On" is actually a stand alone product or game! It had never occurred to me to look inside the installation folder of Strike Fighters 2 Europe for the Strike Fighters 2 Europe Exp2! I was assuming that this "add on" would appear inside my Strike Fighters 2 Europe game. I was only clicking on the shortcut icon on my desktop for Strike Fighters 2 Europe and expecting to find the new aircraft and campaigns inside the Strike Fighters 2 Europe game!

     

    I was extremely confused between the definition of an "Add-On" and a "Mod". I think I understand now that an "Add-On" is a separate .exe file that simply requires the larger Strike Fighters 2 Europe full game to operate. That is why it is located in that folder? Wow! This was really difficult for me to wrap my mind around. I think all is well now though. I also see that the Strike Fighters 2 Europe Exp2 has created a "mod" folder in my "saved games" folder under my user name so, I should be able to add all of the effects I love, such as clouds, terrain and explosions. Please correct me guys if I'm mistaken in my assumptions here. Thanks!

    I've never been very good with modding my Thirdwire games but, I struggle through and sometimes I get lucky and something actually works. For instance, after many attempts, I finally got the NATO FIGHTERS 4 mod to work for my Strike Fighters 2 Europe game. However, this is my dilemma now. I just purchased the new Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 and I am having a very difficult time getting it to install. Can I not have the NATO 4 mod installed in order for this new expansion pack to work? I would hate to have to remove the NATO FIGHTERS 4 mod after so many hours spent trying to get it to work. However, if that is the case I will remove it in order to use the new Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 that I purchased. Or perhaps I also need Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 1 in order for Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 to work?

     

    I even tried to create a second "vanilla" install of Strike Fighters 2 Europe and apply the new Strike Fighters 2 Expansion Pack 2 to that "vanilla" install but, it did not work. When I launched the game it was still showing that I had the Nato Fighters 4 mod applied to the game. I don't know why that would be happening since I installed a fresh new copy of Strike Fighters 2 Europe and did NOT apply the Nato Fighters 4 to that new install of Strike Fighters 2 Europe. Can someone help me out with some advice or direction? As you can see, I'm very confused. Thanks!
