  1. my fault; i wasn't clear the print screen key works (new ish keyboard even)

I will figure it out with help if needed... but i can also try a different key assignment

    it does works intermitently

u may have noticed on u tube there are stormovick & DCS cinematic channels to watch

    plus learn from

i would like to try a graphic comic strip deal on my FB and on my you tube ' jBeers '

if u tried jBeers on You Tube would you find it...

Some people do go there (little) but i haven't done anything to help it

I posted a few pics on my FB of SF2 the other day and even had a real 'FB Flying Club' member DM me about. With recent era mods it looks damn good. Top Tier or B-Tier stuff.

  2. First of all:   I wanted to ask about this and have before...  However,  I may have stopped my SF2Game Engine from  overwriting my current aircraft or dumping deleted stock planes (removed previously by me) back in!

To try my method : delete unwanted stock planes from each Aircraft folder of each install.

Oh, of the planes I wanted to stay for my use  I changed each individual Airplane folder's Icon from a vanilla folder to anything else. I went ahead & used different new icons for different  categories. Axis vs Allies ... Commies vs Good Guys etc i guess they call it analretentive.  SO IF it does it again and dumps another two hundred (it seems) flyable airplanes from all of history into for example you narrow India/Paki Game, no prob you can spot a del them very quickly like so.

    However, setting the entire mod root folder to read only seems to deter this quite annoying bug (i said it) from re-occuring. It is a little annoying to UN-read/only individual *.ini files then read/only again for safety just to tweek the title u see in the game. {FYI: I have worked in information technology for a long time. Keystroking & clicking for hours upon godless hours is not good for your health. I got the pulmanary embolisms and splenicinfarcs to prove it...with the associated bills not to mention scaring the sh_t out my loved ones. Tip:join a gym or something!  So yeah I like planes organized and they ought to fix the bug...right ha!}

    (1) I am frustrated by the lack of response from my in game print screen function quitting or being intermitent at best

It could be a sharing issue...but it just occured to me their may be a setting in windows to either print to file or to memory...there is a name like cache aaaggghh love aging

Will check on the windows print-to toggle feature that may or may not be real, myself

I mentioned read/only and sharing ... I have looked at that, but not what i would call a real pro-level analysis as yet. I did tho try changing the 'path' and making a common "\ScreenShot" folder...more than once...checking read/write & sharing as it were. Really, u ought to be able to create a 'ScreenShot' folder anywhere and the path designator line in options.ini will be correct sense you can copy directly the addie line from the addie bar on win explorer...right

So many probs turn out to be a comma sized typo i can't hardly see no matter...

I remember finally, the y call it the CLIPBOARD

I think I had another question, but I have to take my girl to da stoe

  3. With a command Prompt "CD" (Change Directory) to you Mod's "Aircraft" folder.  You can copy the address out of your 'Explorer' Address Bar easily once in the said folder.  The command to enter is:

    DIR /B > AIRCRAFTLIST.LST  <ENTER>

The aircraft list will magically appear in th AIRCRAFT folder. Clean out any non aircraft listings with notepad.exe

    Good Night all!

  4. am back finaly...

Does anyone know what all the AIRCRAFTLIST.LST file is for.  I kinda forgot about that, but i came across it recently. Explorer++ located it in my WWII install which i found to be meticulously populated with each WWII plane. I wonder if it 'helps' the sim with NOT populating the aircraft folder with stock planes AGAIN? Might it have other effects? From reading the above I would be surprised it would help enemy air defenses. I'm gonna fill one out for a new install I started and see what happens.

Man, those dudes at DCS set up missions how they want. Those b!chez wack bad guy planes from a hundred miles with S-300s all day. (HaHa) Come on TW make us a SF3. Sorta a pour man's DCS.

  5. I noticed the same problem accept I don't have to be flying a SEAD. I was flying with an AI F-4G it fired an ARM at a SAM site likely saving my a$$. This was in Desert Terrain. I have multiple MOD installs that are  modded in most cases heavily. Not sure what would mess with SAMs though. Oh, can you just add a for example a SA-3 when using the mission editor and it will shoot or do you have to build a complete SAM site?  I will try the forum more tomorrow cuz i miss my SAMs.

  6. I did try to use the Search function and a manual 'browse' technique, but no luck. I kinda rotate around different A/C eras. Am on the WWII kick again. For some reason my WWII is doing this rather annoyingly. If I delete out the stock planes which are mostly jets. Every time I then start a Single Mission Aircraft folder has the stock planes back.

You know what as I was typing the above, it dawned on me to check the OPTION.INI file for dates beyond WWII and I did. Will return later with a result. Oh, I have all the games and stock expansion packs. Don't have all the DLC. Anyway, yu can imagine how many planes I have to scroll thru.

  7. I probably came across this back in the day, but had forgotten. For much of my life I was into fighter aircraft or my favorite was fighters. I was interested other types as well. In about 1990 I bought my first computer and the race was on. I bought a flight sim ASAP and soon started to shoot virtual planes down. (After much trying.)  Anyway, more recently I've developed an interest the F-6 and photo recon in general.

You probably read an account of a pair of F-6 Mustangs shooting down several planes then proceeding to take pictures of the smoking wrecks. Confirmed! (street-cred maximized)  Also, it is well documented that the  reconnaissance photos are invaluable to military planning. Very important missions.

Hey, I have not tried  the  recon mission in SF2. Time to try that.

Oh, what was all this about?  I have a pic of the 110th TRS, 71st TRG Mustang with no cameras on the left side. I may have even read that all the fighters in a TRS did not have cameras. I guess the  provided top cover. Sounds like SF2 mission editor time again.

  8. Are you saying  'AircraftShortName=F-6K Recce Mustang'  and/or  'AircraftFullName=F-6K-10-NT' has to be in the  'AirCraftName.ini'  to trigger the lenses to show up? That's kinda cool.

Yep will go back & remove F-6 from the appropriate files and comment out the loop from the non-CBI planes.  Do you think a tactical Recon Group or squadron would have both camera laden and non-photographic Mustangs? I think the did so.

  9. Hey, uuh... I haven't been using the YAP Okinawa/Japan. I've using yours. The YAP one doesn't load right, on my machine anyway. When I get to Japan its messed up.

I attach some pics with the loop.   Incidently I just figured out why I can sometimes take screenshots and other times not. If I use the "Cntrl-'H'" feature before taking a PrtScn it won't work. I didn't try turning off the HUD data from the 'Options' Screen yet.

I am purplexed as why some planes get the Camera lenses on the fuselage and some Mustangs don't.

  10. Yeah, i adjusted the position on the loop and it's cool. I checked what documentation as per a previous comment and indeed the CBI Allied Fighters appear to be the main or only fighters sporting loop antennae. I probably read that in the past or noticed the situation in mustang pics as it seemed familiar. Oh, should the loop be silver or black. I haven't noticed that before, but they appear black in my book. Even my Airfix 1/48 P-51 show it as black.  I'll post a pic a later.

That's interesting you have family that served in the Pacific. Rough duty to be sure. Images on the screen can't do it justice.

  11. There is a small island next to Okinawa called Le Shima. Mustangs flew from there to Japan. It is on the combatAce Okinawa Planning map. Dont think I tried to start a plane from there in the combatace Okinawa terrain though. But, I have done so with the YAP Okinawa terrain. The YAP terrain is acceptable to me but not all the way up to modern standards. I think most of it was built several years ago by a small team. Kinda rushed.

    Could use some green hell.

  12. I do believe I have combatace 'Okinawa.'   What I'm Interested in terrain-wise  is the island of Le Shima off Okinawa. I seem to remember having a problem. Could have crashed or populated tiles like crazy. Will try it again. I just looked at the map though and Le Shima is there. Motivation.

I also decided to try YAP as I wanted to check out the YAP cockpits and a few planes I was hoping to add or replace. I like his version of the P-51B and P-39D. The P-38s are good as are some bombers. The TW P-5D and cockpit with the plethera of combatace skins trump's YAP.  I like some of the YAP jap planes too. Some stuff isn't as good as others true. Oh, I have dumped all necessary files into the subfolders of my WWII Install, but in 'OBJECTS' have 3 folders named AIRCRAT.ETO, AIRCRAFT.PTO, & AIRCRAFT.YAP.  A simple rename before launching is all that is needed.  Will prob combine the PTO CBI YAP planes at some point.

Back to terrains: Mustangs over the Philippines and hitting Japan from Okinawa (+ Le Shima) while escorting B-29s has been interesting for a long time to me.  Cool paint.  Oh, flying from Iwo Jima to Japan though, that's scary.

Thank you for the loop antenna. Historical eye candy but sublime!

  13. If you look closely at Mustang in the Foreground, mounted dorsally behind the normally included antenna you should note the inclusion of a directional loop antenna. Other pics have the loop installed on other CBI/PTO 'Stangs. Its unusual but I believe had downloaded files where a pic in the 'outer' opackage had the mod, but inside the pack at the 'plane level the 'loadnig' or 'hanger' screen (of the same plane) does not have the loop. Obviously, the pic could be 'modded.' Maybe the fake pilot method was utilized.

If anyone could clear up the mystery, thanks. An double thnks if you know how to get this mod.

I finally bit the bullet and got me some YAP. I wanted to fly from le Shima escorting the YAP B-29 to the home islands with skinned TW P-51D/Ks etc5f343d260acb0_71stTRG.thumb.JPG.10ff960bb1237c671288e7bf0151f0ca.JPG

  14. Can anyone identify this refueling plane in this pic?

At first I though it was a S-2 Tracker, but there are noticeable differences. Different engines, vertical stabilizers, and tip tanks. The jets look like 510thh Tactical Fighter Squadron aircraft. In the game that'd be the F-100D model as the 64 & 68 have the late refuel probe.

Also, on the YAP site he mentions a Refueling mod that works with 'Wings over Vietnam.'  Is this real? Does it work with SF2?  Considering it's not free, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this? DCS World apparently does allow aerial refueling. However, they don't have very many planes and my current computer uh can't handle that much game. You know like the women we've dated. :stars:

    Ha!

Oh, and I don't suppose its available for CFS? Maybe I could bump the basket with my uh probe and call it a night.

  15. hi i know its cheeting, but i i changed the thrust in my f-100s (i think i made the C a little less

i looked it up and the thrust in the game is newtons and the stock planes are spot on, but i think something is wrong like the drag or something. The real plane could bust the sound barrier and the air force used it in the demo team of the day for YEARS

    here's my mods

Added a skin (its just the stock with a purple strip on nose to go with the stripe on tail, must use the stock 510th TFS...just unzip and drop the '510thTFS' folder in to the F-100D_64.

You can use the folder on other 'D' model planes by drop it into a folder, but you'll need to rename a few files: 'F-100D_64_3.bmp' to 'F-100D_68_3.bmp'

I really like the hun and have been able to shoot down a few planes after adding some more power

  16. Hello Peoples

First off: Love SF2...and hate to be a whiner and a not figurer outerer myselfer. Not expecting perfection for the money either. And yes have loaded mods.

With that said, my AWACS isn't working (it flies/no broadcasting) and I did like that. As far as I know, Red Crown was a Vietnam, War thing only. AND other assets participated in the Electronics detection even back then. The AWACS is a nice touch and a change. I have the full 5 2013 level SF2 suite going...yes with mods. Nothing I'd expect to cause this, especially since the RED CROWN is working.

If I have to, i could try re-installing NA then next the whole shoot'n match if that  dont work. If I hafta...uugg!

Oh, it WAS working then went back to Red Crown.

Is there an INI that needs a setting change, something easy???   Would TW reply with an answer???

    Thanks

    Original Skin by Bazillius
     for the  Spectre8750  submission Su-33.

They did all the real work. I did a quick tweak of a skin.jpg and a Su-33_Data.ini type file. Hope it goes thru the '33 is awesome!

11-01-2019: I made a reference to modifying the flight_data file above. I actually spent way more time trying to make the flight characteristics actually flyable on my system. If you try the plane and have difficulty, I enclose a Su33_data file. I also, explain what i did to the file.

Ever since starting on combat flight sims  have tweakeed flight characteristics. I'm embarrassed to say how long ago. Let's just say I more than could legally drink when DCS World's predecessor Flanker 1 or 2 launched.  The point is, even so I am far from an expert.  Perhaps someone  could make it better.

  18. i guess the only option is to see if the driver is out of date. Of course, everyhing else seems to work. If it ain't broke....

anyway i atached system prop pics and what the lod viewer is doing. The menu or tool bar is missing, but i can access the menu anyway. I believe it failed to open a lod file. Bu, i only tried maybe one examp.

    it's okay, i'll live

  19. Thanks...yeah i found with the editor you cab set the 'home base' to none or use the 'ALT -N'  (Bothering to read the documentation makes a lot of difference)

Which is fine. Mostly i would want to have a reasonable match-up dogfight only thing.

OR...fly strike escort which would be a scaled down alpha strike or whatever you call an air force strike. Probably a 'Strike.' (i maxed out the available memory for this computer and after 8 gigs i couldn't tell much improvement. 1 day if i live long enough, i will just have to own something akin to alienware.)

I have to mention how awesome many of the add-ons are. These are some of 'MY' favs and are not meant to slight those not mentioned.

I've always liked the phantom especially the 'S' model. (Even though it kinda drives like a truck)

The TMF tomcat superpack is great. I can finaly fly the re-engined models

And really like the Mirages, Rafales, eurofighters, & tornados etc as well

And especially the atlas cheetah...i didn't even know anybody remembered that plane but me

    Go Navy!
