  1. Hi, i`m learning to make a cockpit. Now just have a prototype for study. I stuck in interacive light. I dont kown where i wrong, either texturing in 3dsmax or coding in INI file. Here `s my work. ------------------------------------ I try to make 3 lights in my cockpit. "A" indicates AA weapon, "B" for AGweapon, and "C" for hook. These symbols are already made in my TGA file, which of course in alpha channel. See my game and 3DSMax screenshot. Now the light just show the ABC, no interactive funcation at all. So ,there are 3 questins: 1, Am I wrong in texture setting in 3dsmax? 2, The code is not correct? How to fix it ? 3, What is "Position=0.0" stand for? and what is the meaning of Value=0,1,2 ? I put my INI and Max file here. Hope someone can help. COCKPIT_test.zip -- ----------- and here is my code. I am sure NodeName are correct. Instrument[002]=MARM_AA Instrument[003]=MARM_AG Instrument[004]=HookLight [MARM_AA] Type=HUD_MODE_INDIDCATOR NodeName=AALight MovementType=LIGHT Set[01].Position=0.0 Set[01].Value=0 Set[02].Position=1.0 Set[02].Value=1 Set[03].Position=0.0 Set[03].Value=2 [MARM_AG] Type=HUD_MODE_INDIDCATOR NodeName=AGLight MovementType=LIGHT Set[01].Position=0.0 Set[01].Value=0 Set[02].Position=0.0 Set[02].Value=1 Set[03].Position=1.0 Set[03].Value=2 [HookLight] Type=ARRESTING_HOOK_INDICATOR NodeName=HookLight MovementType=LIGHT

After few years, hundred thousand hours hard works and some remod, here's the stuff.it designed for SF2 still you can also put it in Gen1,but some instruments won't do their job.using in Gen1 is not recommend, well, you know, old engine has lower efficiency when deal with those high poly model. Model: the whole thing has more than ten thousand polys,i try to build almost everything in 3d model, switch panel instruments handle etc.... Texture: Spending about a dozen bitmap for those texture, most of the instruments and panel has their own skin.for compatibility all bitmap been converted into BMP format, which can work in Gen 1&2. Head up display: the HUD is composed with traditional one which using the avionics.ini and 3d model with cockpit.ini, just like TMF mig-29's pit, you will lose some part of the HUD when press the Cockit hidden key. tested environment: WOE Oct 2008 SF2E Jul 2013 SF2NA Jul 2013 Installation:please check the readme file Credits: TK,Thirdwire Combatace.com This is freeware mod made for SF2 series do not use for commercial use or unauthorized distribution. hope you like this mod,and enjoy your flight Click here to download this file

  7. Hi all, with the help of Stary I thought I'd try to cobble together a fast Tu-22 Blinder cockpit based on his excellent Yak-28B cockpit, I wanted to try some ideas at the same time like a switchable navigator/bomber seat and also Starys excellent bombsight mod. Now I need your help regarding reference materails, good quality cockpit drawings and diagrams are the best! I have some decent quality photos from the various seats but diagrams would be a lot better for proportions and also to make out what various buttons and gagues say. So thanks in advance!

  14. Soooo I found a way to turn cockpit mirrors on and off on a keypress. Sounds great doesn't it, since mirrors are nice eye candy but give completely unreasonable FPS hit I suspect many of you with not so hot hardware would love to have that option I mean I can play with mirrors but I often wonder if up to 37fps lost with them is really worth that eye candy. Now you probably wonder why I wrote it's totally worthless? Good point. It's because I tested it on a pre-saved mission to have same conditions which makes for a good testbed and the results were: 1. Mirrors off - 77fps 2. Mirrors on - 40fps 3. Mirrors on but turned off with my mod - still 40fps It seems that even if you kill the mirror mesh completely the game still demands it to be rendered, for whatever purpose I have no clue as that makes as much sense as my neighbor playing Battlefield 3 causing me having bad performance while playing SF2 because my gfx card is somehow rendering his game too...atleast I could beat the living cr*p out of him, here I just can't help it. Anyway here is the attached ini for the stock F-15A if anybody wants to fool around with it, honestly I lost the motivation... EDIT: Oh I forgot, you can switch the mirrors on/off via bomb ripple keys. F-15A_COCKPIT.7z
  15. Hi So this is an idea I've been toying with lately, whose main purpose is to facilitate cockpit making, especially for people new to the game and engine. As it stands now we have a couple of outstanding cockpit makers like Brain32, Stary and Julhelm just to name a few, whose work is excellent. We also have many up-and-coming modders who are just now making their first works in SF2, like me or Sophocles. For me making a cockpit has not been difficult because of aesthetic reasons but technical ones, setting up all the instruments and so forth. To bridge this gap I was hoping we could, as a community, create a set of MAX files with instruments freely available to the community complete with commented INI files. This means creating a cockpit would mostly be about creating the mesh, then the aspiring modder could just open up the instrument max file and pick all the appropriate instruments and place them in his cockpit. Over time the library could be expanded to include most common US, Soviet and French instruments, as a lot of the instruments are standard on many different aircraft or at least very similar. So now I would ask you, the experienced modders, to give us newbies a hand by giving your instruments . I'm willing to do all the compilation work, basically you would just have to open your cockpit file, delete everything except the gauges and needles (and other assets you are willing to part with that might be of use), save as a different file and send it to me. I will then compile all the gauges to a file which I will put up for download. Regarding the textures these can be sent in any way you please, I will then cut out the unnecessary bits (if any) for minimal file size. And be sure to also send the INI files of your cockpits so that it is basically a cut'n'paste affair to make them work. If you care to comment the files, all the better! I'm hoping this project will enable more modders to make more high quality cockpits for the flying pleasure of us all If you have any input please share it here! With hope of co-operation, Cnt
  16. Hello everyone. I would like to ask for some help in finding some online videos. I am trying to find good videos that show the positive aspects of having a 3D cockpit and TrackIR working together. I am not looking for a simple TrackIR demonstration video. I am seeking instead videos showing the advantages of using a 3D cockpit in conjunction with TrackIR in a sim for combat flying. I would like, if possible, videos that stay with the pilot's eye view throughout the ACM/BFM portion of the videos. Also I would like the videos to be from as wide a range of simulations as possible, for example Strike Fighters 1&2, First Eagles1&2, Rise of Flight, DCS/LOMAC, IL-2:1946, Mig Alley, Falcon 4, Falcon BMS, JANE's F/A-18, and so on. My reason for asking is that there is a bit of a debate on another forum I have been reading about the issue of cockpit Vs. no-cockpit view, first person perspective (classic sim view) Vs third person perspective(FreeLancer, AceCombat style). However it seems to me like a lot of the people talking are not up on what the latest in flight sims are capable of providing in immersion and situational awareness. All I would like are some good examples of what is now possible so that I can present them for educational purposes, as in this case I think a picture(or video) is worth a thousand words. Thank you.
  17. Hi! I saw in an old cockpit mod a head movement/rolling/shaking, as like in FC2 (the pit is not fixed in the center of the screen but moves a little bit when the plane is rolling). How can I do this? I guess that is in somewhere in an .ini file but wich one and what line is that? Is this question clear? My english is crap. :) Thanks. Érc
