  10. Lilith's Day Out 2

Took my old K-4 "Lilith" up after a few years of not being on Il-2 FB. Nothing's changed (but for some slight tweaks to the paint scheme). Il-2 4.10_1m with Ultrapack RC4. Historical colors in non-historical custom camouflage pattern (own work). Markings are in-game with the exception of the unit insignia (5./15JG) and "nose art" after the aircraft number. 040010 Nov 15

File Submitter: viper63a File Submitted: 01 March 2015 File Category: Menus StrikeFighter2 German Luftwaffe WWII (ETO) Hi-Res 1024x768 Menu Screens and Music! By Viper This mod includes custom "German Luftwaffe WWII" themed menu screens and pilots for the ETO package I hope someone will make in the future (if not already made that I don't know about). You should unzip the file and preview the new screens before installing them. I recommend doing this as there are MANY alternate screens I have in there that you might like better. If you choose to install these screens, I recommend that you back up (make a copy of) your FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders in the SF2 Mod folder you're installing this mod into. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup. To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder. To remove, simply delete the FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders and rename the copies you made to FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders. My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit would be something like... C:\Users\<your_id>\Saved Games\Thirdwire\<Name of your ETO mod folder>\ Enjoy! Click here to download this file

  16. F-8G Crusader in Marineflieger-Service (as usual, suggestions are welcome!) What happened in Real Life When the Luftwaffe looked for new aircraft in the late 50ies, it soon became apparent that it would either choose the F-104 Starfighter favoured by the Luftwaffe staff, or the Mirage III favoured by the secretary of defence for political reasons. Both of them however were dedicated nuclear options, and the Marine feared the nuclear armament of the Starfighter (or the Mirage) would lead to a subordination of the Marineflieger under Luftwaffe command and demote them to a nuclear auxiliary role. Worse, the Marineflieger in this conception would not participate in the naval war proper as envisioned by the Marine. The Marine thus was more than unhappy when the Starfighter was chosen and given to their air wings. Non-nuclear options were explored, like the Italian G.91, but none of them materialized as the secretary of defence aimed for the standardization of all German fighters and fighter bombers. However the Marine successfully rejected the nuclear strike role of their Marineflieger. Enter the F-8G Crusader The Crusader was simpler than the F-104G while offering good performance, but it also had the stigma of being a carrier based aircraft with lots of dead weight when used from airfields on land. The Marine however had its long term plans for a small carrier battle group and thus the Crusader was a very good choice. In fact, as supersonic speed was the parole of the day, and the Marine did not want to stay behind the Luftwaffe in that regard, the Crusader was one of the few choices that could be made. When the French also picked the F-8 for their small carriers, the decision was made final. The Marine wanted only a few changes to the original F-8, identical to the French ones minus the need to carry indigenous or radar guided air to air missiles. Later on the F-8G Crusader was refitted to use AS.34 Kormorran anti-ship missiles. F-8G Crusader, MFG 1, 1976 (sporting Norm 76 naval aviation camouflage)
  17. File Name: Multinational Speech Pack File Submitter: thereg File Submitted: 16 November 2012 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Objects Multinational Speech pack version 1.0 for Strike Fighters 2 SHould work on any type of SF2 installation. This is a compilation of speech packs brought together by me from original files mainly made for IL-2 Sturmovik and released as part of DBW. Due to the limited phrases available, it is intended more for immersion than for accuracy. I can't claim any credit for the actual recording, but I did some re-editing and re-processing to better bring the files in line with SF2. I've also included a re-processed version of Gramps' Russian Speech Pack available on Combatace. BE WARNED: If you speak any of these languages you may not enjoy how they fit into the game. For the most part I tried to find phrases that fit the different SF2 files in general meaning, but they are far from perfect, and a few are actually just random. You may want to turn on subtitles, at least until you get used to the different phrases. Multinational Speech pack version 1.0 for Strike Fighters 2 SHould work on any type of SF2 installation. Special note to my fellow New Zealanders: I humbly apologise for lumping us in with the Aussies, but it was the closest I could get ;-) ----------------------------- Credits and huge thanks: Original files provided as part of the awesome Dark Blue World mod from SAS.com for IL-2: RAF NZandAus French German Italy ------------------------- Originals from GONVISE for IL2: Spain ---------------------------- Originals from Azrael-WT, TIGERLIU, CrazyDog, Northeastern Panda, Liu MM, TIGERLIU, bwhorse, treefanweijia, llb00825, bwhorse for IL2: China -------------- Originals from EECH and first converted by Richard "Gramps" Kaminski: Russian ---------------- As for the Arabic, I actually can't remember where I got them from, but thanks to whoever made them. 19. File Name: F-4F (80) Norm 81B Camouflage File Submitter: PraetorH File Submitted: 28 September 2012 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Skins History of the Norm 81 camouflage: Since the mid 70ies German fighter pilots from Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" and Jagdgeschwader 74 "Mölders" increasingly complained about the old one-fits-all aircraft camouflage of the Luftwaffe called Norm 72 (Standard 72, named after the year of introduction). Its large geometrically arranged areas in olive-green and gray worked well camouflaging an aircraft on the ground and even in low level flight over the equally geometrical fields of Germany. But the dark colours also drew massive attention in high altitude combat. Worse, the oversized Iron Crosses and serial numbers with their high contrast black and white lettering made the aircraft even easier to spot. In the later 70ies, Luftwaffe command encouraged its fighter pilots to develop new paint schemes. “Richthofen” and “Mölders” in particular were eager in devising trial camouflages. Most of them massively reduced the greens and put stronger emphasis on grays, while shrinking the markings a lot. (I do not know if it was intentional or not, but some resembled WWII Luftwaffe interceptor camouflages.) These were to become the basis for the official Norm 81. Norm 81 was to be used by fighters and fighter-bombers alike, and applied to Phantoms which were upgraded to Peace Rhine-standard. When they were upgraded to ICE-standard, Norm 81 was replaced by the more modern Norm90J – the first German paint scheme intended for fighters only. Description of the Norm 81 camouflage: The aircraft camouflage is dominated by two shades of light gray (Lichtgrau, Steingrau) on the lower surfaces and the sides. Only the upper surfaces of the wings and the topsides of the fuselage along the spine and the engines were painted with three dark shades of gray (Quarzgrau, Basaltgrau, Staubgrau) and one shade of green-gray (Grüngrau). The early schemes deliberately featured soft edges for the colours blending them better into each other. Later this was given up, as weathering did that job rather well, too. The national markings were reduced in size and number; the Iron Cross was applied top to the left wing and bottom to the right wing, and on both sides of the fuselage. Early in the 80ies, the old Norm 72-warnings continued to be used, until replaced with toned down warnings. For flight safety some aircraft sported high visibility markings, most notably when transferred to low level fight training in Goose Bay, Canada. These markings could be painted on the top fuselage, under the nose, on the wing tips and on the stabilizers varying in size and colour. Many crews seemed to favour red or yellow, but green or blue was seen often as well. Only few had white or dayglow markings. Norm 81 was used in two variants, A for geometrical shapes on the wings, tail and the fuselage downside, and B for rounded shapes. B seems to have been the preferred choice by the units. Advise on the use of the skins in SF2: The combination of soft colour edges and Norm 72-markings makes these skins suitable for campaigns set in the early and mid 80ies. However in the late 80ies they would look rather out of place. Skins included: I included one Norm 81B skin for every German wing equipped with F-4F: Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" Jagdgeschwader 74 "Mölders" (flying 'denamed' as JG 74 today) Jagdbombergeschwader 35 (flying reorganized as JG 73 “Steinhoff” today) Jagdbombergeschwader 36 (disbanded today, flew as JG 72 in its last days) Requirements: You need the F-4F (80), but the skins should also fit on the F-4F (ICE). Also, F-4F and F-4E may work more or less. Installation: Just unzip and drop the folder in your SF2 mod directory, usually it is: C:\Users\xxx\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 yyy Credits: Ravenclaw_007 for his template (based on Sundowner's F-4E template), and his decals which I am using.
