  1. I am new to this game but I am loving it and the dynamic campaign is amazing. my only and only problem is that planes just dissapear in the distance, literally just dissapear a short distance a way, around 200 - 500 meters away? not too sure but its very off putting and its clearly an issue for gameplay. I am using Patch July 2013 Wings over Korea mod I play on 3840x2160 4K resolution (I'd prefer playing on that) I have extracted the flightengine ini into SF2 Filght folder as well as to the korea folder and made some changes like turned off fade away and increased mesh values, but still to no avail? Anyway to fix this? Its literally the only thing destroying the fun I have with this game.
  2. Hello I have little problem in SF2 North Atlantic in single mission when I select Korea v3 and Cuba Otc terrains I can't change mission year before 1970, is there any fix for that problem?
  3. Bonjour a tous . J'ai réalisé de nouvelles textures 1024x1024 pour le superbe terrain Korea Mig-alley de Gepard mais comment peut-on augmenter la distance d'apparition des arbres ? merci pour vos futures réponses ! Hello everyone . I created new 1024x1024 textures for Gepard's superb Korea Mig-alley terrain, but how can we increase the distance at which the trees appear? Thanks for your future responses!
  4. 'Ello guys Thought I'd share a campaign I have working with you as the chances of me finishing it on my own seem to be rather slim. Background: Set in 1985 Features flyable aircraft of the USAF, USN, USMC and ROK. Intial enemy is DPRK, reinforced later by Soviets and China Fairly realistic ORBAT for blue side Two carrier groups, USS Constellation and USS Carl Vinson, with period accurate squadrons and escorts A (not yet fully working) friendly Amphibious landing A new comprehensive 60+ node ground war. Can be used for Korean war ops too I think MODs I used, Aircraft http://combatace.com/files/file/13932-f-4e-usaf-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13932-f-4e-usaf-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12096-f-4d-78-loran/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13223-f-15c-eagle-early-production-1979-for-sf2-march2012-and-later/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12743-updated-f-16a-block-10/ http://combatace.com/files/file/9685-b-52gh-mega-era-package/ http://combatace.com/files/file/11898-f-4d-rokaf-1969/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15259-fa-18-series-update-by-the-hornet-team/ http://combatace.com/files/file/14233-lockheed-f-117a-nighthawk-for-sf2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15388-ah-1s-cobra-tow-smod/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15116-f-5e-early-versions-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/9274-mirage-factory-f-4g-phantom-for-sf2-series/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15326-ah-1j-wings-over-the-seven-seas-sf2/ Ships http://combatace.com/files/file/12873-iowa-class-battleship-update/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12304-cg-16-leahy-class-cruiser/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12431-riga-class-frigate/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13041-jianghu-class-frigates/ Terrain http://combatace.com/files/file/13415-sf2-korea-terrain-v3/ Ground units http://combatace.com/files/file/14277-republic-of-korea-army-vehicle-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13284-sf2-tanks-pack/ and more probably... So if anyone is interested give it a try and maybe we can make a complete pack out of this. It flies quite good, the campaign, the best I've done certainly. Installation is just to pop it into the campaigns folder. Take the included Korea3_targets and pop it into the Korea 3 folder, this add a USMC deployment point for the naval invasion. I have a lot of period skins in the work, I suck at decaling and would gladly hand them over to a good decals guy. These include Wolfpack F-16A skins, USN A-7E and F/A-18A skins.. To repeat install requirements: Requirements: SF2 Israel, SF2 Vietnam, SF2 Europe, July 2012 patch level or above, 6GB of HDD space. Recommended but not necessary: SF2 Expansion Pack 1, SF2 Expansion Pack 2, SF2 North Atlantic. (See install instructions step 4.) Make sure the minimum install requirements are met, i.e. SF2I, SF2V and SF2E, otherwise problems will occur, from the minor missing aircraft and objects, to the severe game hangs / CTDs. Further if you do not have SF2Exp1, SF2Exp2 or SF2NA, extra install step 4 is needed! 1. Set up the Mod folder. a. Go to the SF2 root directory, make a copy of an .exe of choice (i.e. StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe), and rename it to StrikeFighters2 Korea.exe. Run it once, set game options. When setting graphics, recommend turning off shadows (Shadows: Low). Exit the game. b. Go to the generated mod folder (C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\), delete the objects folder. 2. Set up the Korea Terrain. a. Download Wrench’s KoreaV3 terrain here: http://combatace.com/files/file/13415-sf2-korea-terrain-v3/ b. Go to the mod folder (C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\), create a new folder named Terrains. c. Extract the downloaded KoreaV3.7z, cut the newly extracted Korea3 folder, paste it into the Terrains folder created above. Note, after this step, the various terrain files and textures etc. should reside in this path: C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\Terrains\Korea3\ 3. Set up the mod. a. Download the 3 .7z files for this pack, extract them and put the contents of the first two .7z files together (StrikeFighters2_Korea_1_of_3.7z and StrikeFighters2_Korea_2_of_3.7z). b. Cut the StrikeFighters2 Korea folder, and overwrite it over the mod folder (paste it into C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\) Note, after this step, the mod folder should be populated with the following: Campaigns, Controls, Effects, Flight, Menu, Missions, Objects, PilotData, Screenshots, Sounds, Terrains, as well as Options.ini and Version.ini. 4. Step for not having the recommended game installs. (If all three of the recommended games: SF2 Exp1, Exp2 and North Atlantic, are already installed, feel free to skip this step.) Go to the extracted contents of the third .7z file (StrikeFighters2_Korea_3_of_3.7z), and enter the folder named "No_NA_EXP1_EXP2". a. If you do not have SF2 North Atlantic, copy the contents of the folder "No NA" into your mod folder (C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\). b. If you do not have SF2 Expansion Pack 1, copy the contents of the folder "No EXP1" into your mod folder. c. If you do not have SF2 Expansion Pack 2, copy the contents of the folder "No EXP2" into your mod folder. 5. Mod specific .ini configs a. In your SF2 installation directory where all the game .exe resides, make a copy of StrikeFighters2 Israel.ini (or any other similar ini) and rename it StrikeFighters2 Korea.ini. Open the newly created .ini and find the following: [Directory] ... CampaignsDirectory=Campaigns ... And change it to: CampaignsDirectory=C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\Campaigns\ *Please do not just copy paste this line but replace [username] with whatever’s set on your PC. This step is to prevent stock campaigns from displaying which can sometimes cause problems. b. In your Mod folder (C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\), open up the file Options.ini, find the [instantAction] section, and replace it with the following: [instantAction] AircraftType=F-86E-10 MissionMap=Korea3 StartTime=15:30:00 StartDate=09/18/1951 StartTimeDeviation=120 TextureSet=0 NationalMarking=0 SquadronMarking=0 AircraftNumber=0 KillMarking=0 This would get InstantAction working spawning F-86s, Mig-15s etc. --- Above are essential steps. Optional steps follow. 6. Files for payware mods. Go to the extracted contents of the third .7z file, and enter the folder named "Payware Files". a. The contents in the folder "For Razbam Banshee" are for the F2H-2 aircraft sold by Razbam. If you have it, drop the contents from this folder into the mod folder (C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Korea\), and then drop the .LOD files from your purchase into their corresponding paths (banshee korea.LOD, and f2h2cockpit.LOD for the cockpit). Banshees will thus fly sorties in campaigns. b. The contents in the folder "For YAP Essex" are for Carrier Pack 1 (CV-34 Oriskany and F9F) sold by Yankee Air Pirate. If you have it, drop the contents from this folder into the mod folder, and then drop Essex_Korea.LOD from your purchase into its corresponding path. Next, create a copy of the .LOD, and rename it "Essex_Korea_Col.LOD" (Without the "). This is crucial, as the game will use the collision LOD for ship deck positioning. 7. Alternate mods. Go to the extracted contents of the third .7z file (StrikeFighters2_Korea_3_of_3.7z). a. The folder "F-86 Alternate Cockpit" contains modded F-100 cockpits for use on the F-86 series. If decided to use these cockpits, use the contents in the folder "With EXP2" if SF2 Expansion Pack 2 is installed; if not, use the contents in the "NO EXP2" folder. b. The folder "F-86 Alternate Skins" contains SF1 F-86 skins adapted to SF2. And that’s it, the setup is complete. ________________________________________________ Credits: Tu-2S: Cocas, Kulbit80, Baffmeister, Kesselbrut, Wrench, Jiver (from IL2 SAS) An-2: Pasko, Diego, Wrench F7F-3N cockpit: Stary F-94B cockpit: Stary F-84E&G cockpit: Flakiten, Brain32, Stary WW2/Korea fx tests: Stary Mig-15 ADI fix: Coupi B-29 ini updates: Crusader F2H, F9F, F-80, F-84, F-86, Meteor and Mig-15 engine sounds: Jiver and Tiger33 (from IL2 SAS) Seafury: Skippybing, Wrench, Baffmeister, 7eleven, PauloPanz, GregoryP, Hinchbrook, Stephan1918, KJakker, eburger NK prop FMs for IL-10, La-11 and Yak-9: Baffmeister F9F panther flight model: Baffmeister KAW B-29 Pack: Wrench, MontyCZ, PauloPanz, Crusader, GregroyP, Brain32, lindr2, bobrock F-86 Fighter Bomber Units skin pack: Wrench F4U-5 Corsair pack: TMF, Crusader, Wrench, RussoUK, CrazyHorseB34 SF2 Colourful Korea: Gunrunner C-47 21TCS skin: Wrench C-47 skin pack: paulopanz, Wrench Li-2 Pack: paulopanz, Wrench, Kesselbrut, Kubit AN-M65: ravenclaw_007 SF2 Wings over Korea (KAW) HiRes hangar and loading screens: viper63a Razbam Banshee tweeks: Wrench, luk1978 AD-4NL 3w pack: Wrench, Dels, Bunyap Korean War pilot pics: Capitaine Vengeur Open cockpit method: Coupi YAP Essex Decals: Paulopanz F-86 Sabre/GunVal Sabre Pak: Wrench: Skins, ini Zurawski: 3D model, cockpit Fubar512: FM, sounds NDicki: SAAF Decals Brain32: cockpit Crab_02, Zurawski, Dave: RF-86F rework Pappychksix: JASDF skin and decal Wrench: USAF, ROKAF Skin and decal Russouk2004: Wing Fence FastCargo: Fakepilot Ravenclaw007: Skin template F-86 Sabre/GunVal Sabre Pak Update: Crusader F-86 120/200Gal Hi-def drop tanks: Ravenclaw007 Mig-15/Mig-15Bis_NK: Wrench: Skins, Pilot, ini Fubar512: FM, sound Stary: Cockpit Pasko: Seat Spillone104(?): VK-1 sound Mig-15/Mig-15Bis Skin pack: Paulopanz: Skins, decals, ini Stary: Cockpit Spillone104: pylons, sounds Pasko: 150 tank Gaunt, Y. 9. I've been playing the North Korea Invades 1950. Lots of fun, although NK birds a lot more numerous than in real life. Anyhow, problem is that the Yak-9Ps are too skillful and deadly. They make mincemeat out of F-80Cs and give F9Fs a hard time. Any way to tone this down, so they're shot down easier--like in real life?
  10. Enjoying the Korean Air War campaign overall. But sometimes, when things get very busy, the framerate will slow almost to a crawl. My setup is the following (relevant info): W10 i5 2500 (non K) 8GB Ram 1TB 7200 GTX 1050ti (newish drivers, forget the number exactly, 45X I think) Sound Blaster Z Do I need a serious upgrade to cut through the slowdowns and framerate drops?

Attached are a collection of original manuals from the 1950s and 1960s, to help the simulator pilot accurately reproduce aerial engagements from the Korean War and beyond. The Boyd manuals were found on Mark Hart's website. Originally they were Air Force documents of course, but difficult to find and not in good quality. Mark painstakingly reproduced the documents to their original conditions. His contact information and how he restored each manual is included in the individual pdfs.

This model represents the long-hull straight-deck Essex class aircraft carriers, beginning with CV-14 USS Ticonderoga circa 1944. These ships were about 5 meters longer than the original CV-9 Essex, and featured heavier anti-aircraft armament. Two versions of the ship are included: The original WW2 configuration, and the jet-capable Korean War era modernization. Decals for each unit are included. Random aircraft parking has been designed for currently available models with folding wings. In addition to its complement of aircraft, each ship is armed with a battery of twin 5" guns and single 5" guns, plus a vast number of 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns. Please see the readme for full details and credits. Because this is a very high-poly, high-definition model, instructions are also included to improve framerate for those of us without premium supercomputers. This model is dedicated to Wrench, who requested it, and who provides us with great playgrounds for all our toys.

Short description: 2013, five years ago i decided to start work on a Korea terrain, especially for Korea War. As usual for me i wanted to creat a more or less 100% scaled terrain, in contrast to the 66% scales which the TerrainEditor is usually made for us. It was a slow progress work. Now, five years later, i release the first version of Korea MiG-Alley terrain. Korea MiG-Alley terrain does not cover entire korean peninsula. It is focused on the so called MiG-Alley. The MiG-Alley was an area in north west Korea which was controlled and patroled by MiG-15 planes, which were based on airfields in China. The chinese airbases were out of "reach" for the UN Air Forces. Out of reach meant, it was not allowed to bomb or straff this bases. MiG-Alley terrain is made for simulating the air warfare of the Air Forces, not the Navy, during the Korea War from 1949 to 1953. The terrains timeframe is set from 1949 to 1955. Active airfields you will find in China and in South Korea. Airfields in North Korea are in building stage, what means they cant be used by the red side. But they are targets for the blue guys. You will find a lot of ground targets in the MiG-Alley. Bridges, factories, railway stations etc. All are heavily defended by Flak artillery. You will find some ship traffic along the west coast and some truck convois in the MiG-Alley. There are also targets of opportunities, like fuel depots consists of fuel barrels. Korea (V3) visual update and enhancements pack. This is new tileset, treemod, objects, targets enhancement mod for Wrench's Korea(v3) terrain. Version 1.1 update: Added missing graphics files for the village type objects, added three graphics to main folder (were in seasonal ones) just to be extra sure Why: Kevin's Korea V3 terrain was released with temporal f***ing ugly test set I made for KAW team back in early 2010, despite me having some other nicer fittable sets at my disposal. Yes I have been angry about that. Very very angry. But now I am ok, good doctors care for me here ;) This work is done to fix that omission of mine and I tired hard to make Korea nice place to fly in. What's this: -new summer and winter tilesets -new tile layout-following dedicated TOD objects, with densely placed and rather real-size objects -new era-themed ground objects (barracks, fuel tanks, tents, HQ, fire houses, misc buildings etc) to replace the stock TW ones, be it in airbases or targetareas -some older target objects have their textures tweaked or repainted under fair use license; that is mostly various "halle" objects by either Gepard or Gocad (various runways are yet to be repainted) -lots of targetareas have re-positioned targets to avoid i.e. barracks in the middle of tree cluster or factories sunken within tod buildings -but there is still LOTS of places to redo. You have been warned. -lots of targetareas expanded with additional eyecandy civilian village-type objects (though these are still a bit of WIP and bit "generic asian" in appearance; also these are old, like 5 years old) -the tiles are specfically tuned to work best with SARCASM 2 beta 2 update 1 lighting and sky Installation (read carefully!): -given the amount of objects this pack replaces you are advised to keep archived full current Korea terrain you use (it's called BACKING UP and it's really healthy, trust me) -this pack assumes you do have working Korea (v3) terrain installed and tested in your installation -dedicated Korean War installation in of course preferable -before installing content of this 7-zip archive, go to your Korea3 folder and delete EVERY SINGLE TOD file there (the files with .tod extension) -otherwise you might end with trees in wrong places of houses in the sea. Yes, really. -you can delete the seasonal tiles folders (winter, spring, fall, late fall etc) as this pack has new unique seasons in their new folders with new naming (fade_summer and fade_winter; why "fade"? This months-long project I kept under such code name to confuse my better half or possible Insky-related hacker bot that keeps attacking my emails. Ohh wait, where's my tilfoil hat?) -extract this archive to a place of your choice and move the Korea3 folder to your terrains one overwriting all files when asked. Overwriting IS vital of course. -you shall test my Sarcasm 2 beta (2 update 1) with this pack, really. i have my own, ohh well "art style" for SF2 series these packs represent; you might not like this but well, you can't change me can you? -in SF2 WW2 forum I released some new or updated effects, work well with this pack -you're pretty much good to go at this point Licensing: CA Freeware license apply -not to be used in any payware project; But you are encouraged to repaint and tweak the tiles, objects and associated graphis, tods to fit your own tileset or terrain. Credits: The author of the original decade old SFP1 Korea mod terrain as I tried to replicate it's general green-brownish tones. Wrench and KAW team for Korea3 and everything-Korea related. Than you guys. KAW mod is not yet dead. Or I'd rather say quite alive and kicking. Do335 for his work invested in putting the KAW team work and available assets back together. Much appreciated. Luk1978 for sharing with us his interesting repaint of my Taiwan/Korea set that gave me few ideas about the general feel of the set, thank you. Be back to SF2 please as you quietly do interesting stuff IMO. All the good and bad souls at Combat Ace and around :P Happy flying Stary
  16. Close call with 20 MIGS as F-106's fly EC-121 escort during USS Puablo incident 94th FIS deployed to Osan AB, Korea. By Bruce Gordon F-106 pilot 94th FIS. The tactics they would have used with the F-106 in the last page are fascinating. I've always thought of the F-106 in its context as a bomber interceptor not as a fighter on CAP engaging other fighters! Remember this is pre project 'Six shooter' so these F-106 have no gun and only two shots of missiles each as the F-106 fired two of its four Falcon missiles with each shot- it could not fire missiles singularly excpt for the nuclear AIR-2 Genie rocket.

  23. File Name: Korea visual update and enhancements pack File Submitter: Stary File Submitted: 11 September 2015 File Category: Tilesets for Terrains Korea (V3) visual update and enhancements pack. All the good and bad souls at Combat Ace and around :P Happy flying Stary Click here to download this file
  24. File Name: Essex class (long-hull) aircraft carrier File Submitter: WhiteBoySamurai File Submitted: 27 September 2015 File Category: Aircraft Carriers This model represents the long-hull straight-deck Essex class aircraft carriers, beginning with CV-14 USS Ticonderoga circa 1944. Click here to download this file
