I have not created one .LOD file, re-skinned one airplane or posted any of the missions I have designed...yet. I keep running into a lack of information. (Although many people have been quite generous with their time). Nonetheless, here is some information for other new guys at my level.

Get Gmax. It is discontinued freeware but you can find it here:

http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

Then, you have to register it. They tell you how since Discreet is no longer in the freebie business.

Then what? It's tough to deal with. So, go here:

http://www.simviation.com/gryphon/Tutorials.htm

That should get you started on modeling, skinning, etc. Or, it might convince you to leave this all to the really talented people already doing it. I am just about convinced now myself...but I have a wish list.

If it gets one of you to turn that 707 that is already done into a KC-135 then go to it.

Or, if someone would like to collaborate on an HH-3 in camo with an animation/weapon that allows an AI ship to pick up a target/object/pilot, then let me know.

With GMax afaik you are still going to have to pass your model to somebody with 3DSMax for them to export into the game.
