New WWI Campaign Uploaded: Please Note

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just uploaded a new campaign for FE, Rotagen's 1916 flying circus (German Defense).

I've flied a few times and in one mission I got the result I was looking for....LOTS of enemy planes quite close to my drome right after takeoff.

Get tired of hitting the warp key, takes some realism out of the whole experience.

PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER; YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW THIS, BUT:

I FORGOT TO NOTE IN THE README FILE THAT YOU SHOULD PUT THE ENTIRE 1916_DEFENSE CAMPAIGN FOLDER INTO YOUR WWI\CAMPAIGN FOLDER.

I'M NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK WITH JUST THE 2 NAKED FILES INSIDE.

Hope Someone enjoys it............Let me Know!

Rotagen,

Since you named it "Rotagen's 1916 flying circus (German Defense)" does this mean you have to fly it from a certain side, ie: fly German? I ask because I was trying it out last night, and chose a French Nieuport 11 Escadrille, BUT was confronted with German AC ranging from EIII's and IV's to Alb DIII and even DV's all over one aerodrome (maybe if I waited around long enough some DVII's and VIIF's would have shown up for the blood bath???).

This may have something to do with the 1918 date not being changed in the campaign settings (as you mention in the ReadMe) and altering the EIII & EIV cessation dates to 1918 (in order for them to show up at all...). But this is not acceptable from a game balance point-of-view if you're flying early aircraft only to be confronted by later war years technology those AC don't have a hope-in-h_ll of matching.

You did mention the campaign is not based in reality, but the above mis-matched scenario was not expected. Was this mis-match your intention? If you are supposed to fly German only (and thus possibly avoid this issue from appearing, though I don't see how...), then perhaps make that more clear in the readme or text description in the download area.

I'm not trying to be overly critical here, but just make your intentions clearer in the downloads section so people can make an informed decision of whether to take the time to download and make the mods you require to their copy of the game. I can only squeeze in small bits of time to enjoy FE, and guard that time very carefully...
