Guest Tazkiller Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 In anticipation of Edward's New Korean Terrain. I have been at work overhauling the flight models fot the F-86 Sabres we have available to Dash 1 standards. The following are screen shots of a glide test. After a mission I decieded to escort some B-29s back to Japan. Fuel was extremely low. Following their landing I got the idea of trying to make it back to Kimpo. Set course and climb as efficiently as possible til the juice runs dry. Flame-out at 30,000 feet. All is well except winds aloft!!!!!!!!! Can I make it??????? Not this time!!!!!! I was about 12 miles short of the base!!!! With increased altitude. And the fact of course direction going with, and not against the winds aloft, returning from the Yalu would be very possible. Even at 100 miles glide distance. Improved flight models will include F-86A-5, E-5, E-10,F-1, and F-30 both Slatted Wing and 6-3 Hard Wing. All models perform to 99.9% of Dash 1 standards. Also available will be improved flight models for the MiG-15.
+DWCAce Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 In 'Sabers Over Mig Alley', it seems that gliding occurred more often than not.
Guest Tazkiller Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 In case anyone cares glide test accomplished with the winds aloft. Very easy from 30,000 feet. Arrive over base at 12000 feet. Distance at flame out 65 miles. Sorry no screen shots. Was also testing accurate fuel consumption.
