Wings over Europe

Just started playing this game,is it just me doing something wrong! or is ithis normal? I find that in fighting turns the planes seem to loose an unatural amount of speed to the point where they are almost at stalling point. Now obviously any aircraft in a tight turn bleeds speed quickly,but this seems overly done,like I'm flying with the air brake engaged. Any help please.

What altitude?

 

What are you comparing it to (ie what other air combat sims have you played)?
