If you would like to do some graphic modelling. I would highly recommand AC3D 6.2 it's easy to use and also can import & export many different types of 3d files, there is a 14 day demo from the link below.

I have got 3D Studio Max R3.1 and Max 9 and I found AC3D alot easy to use if you are a newbe to modelling give this software a try.
