Musical Extremities...

Recommended Posts

In these sims of ours we are always comparing aircraft and such and sometimes we come up with performance examples that are pretty staggering if you really think about it. Well, the world of Music also very similar. No matter what style or genre, certain musicians just have a knack of doing things that seem to be virtually impossible for a normal person to do.

Here's George Kollias, the drummer for the band Nile. I've been into very high speed tempos since the 80s but never in my wildest imagination back in the day did i think human drummers would be able to pull this off for prolonged periods.

Speed, power, precision!

Oh yeah Gilbert is one of the greats for lyrical playing. A few of my friends had Racer-x stuff back then but as a whole we prefered Yngwie Malmsteen because he had way more edge in his technique.

As for Kollias being noise? I've had serious Jazz cats admit that they couldn't play that without months of intensive practice just to get up to those tempos.

The bassist playing with Gilbert is way too conservative though.

Damn, the tendons  this last video is awesome , i reallya admire who plays like that the song is good great technique( but should be very exaustive)! here a lot of bands abuse of double pedals and ''frying''(id if its the right term) the guitar, so i, it turn in to a way booring, besides of gutural abuse.

yep, Gilbert is a way conservative, but Malmsteen sometimes broke all limits and turn boring, i've got some traks of him and Dio covering Mr Crowley and Gates of Babylon, IMO he ''crapped'' the song

about the noise, just Joking :blush2:

i've posted here while ago an thread about noise:

I've heard a few songs where Yngwie didn't exactly pull it off. The Cannibal Corpse vid almost always gives me hand pains when i watch it.

Another small example of tendon abuse by a bassist
