Lagg 7R and Yak 3R rocket engines

Can you turn these engines on and off? I've figured out how to start out with the rocket engine not on but once I turn it on I can't turn it off again. Yet I see the AI engines going on and off.

 

What kind of control configuration would I need to accomplish this if it can be done?

Can it not be switched On/Off like in any other multi engine plane?

Yes they can. I found out that the rocket shuts off at 40% or less throttle and it can be separately controlled.
