maverickvf142 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Hi all, I've recently fired back up SF2 after a while away from playing and I've noticed that whenever I play a campaign, the game crashes about 10 minutes into it. It doesn't seem to happen when I select single mission. The only thing I can think of is that I updated the game to June 2013 about three months ago. However, I know that certain aircraft require the June 2013 update to work correctly which was the reason I updated the game. Before I remove and reinstall the game, I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem and if so, can you tell me if it is related to the patch or not? I read several posts regarding this issue and it seems that the GraphicsEngineDX10.dll file may be the culprit. Though it may or may not be irrelevant, I installed DirectX 9 to play another game about a month ago under the impression that the DIrectX on my computer (DX11) will not be corrupted in any way. Could the installation of DirectX 9 have something to do with this problem? Here is the error from the event viewer Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 8/18/2015 8:10:08 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Maverick Description: Faulting application name: StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe, version: 13.7.1.35, time stamp: 0x51d22159 Faulting module name: GraphicsEngineDX10.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x51d37ec1 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00032df4 Faulting process id: 0x141c Faulting application start time: 0x01d0da0f7ca8101f Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2\Core\GraphicsEngineDX10.dll Report Id: a62acf8e-4606-11e5-8270-a0886961a241 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2015-08-19T00:10:08.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>25572</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>Godzilla</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe</Data> <Data>13.7.1.35</Data> <Data>51d22159</Data> <Data>GraphicsEngineDX10.dll</Data> <Data>0.0.0.0</Data> <Data>51d37ec1</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>00032df4</Data> <Data>141c</Data> <Data>01d0da0f7ca8101f</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam.exe</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2\Core\GraphicsEngineDX10.dll</Data> <Data>a62acf8e-4606-11e5-8270-a0886961a241</Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> </EventData> </Event> Thanks, maverickvf142
maverickvf142 Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I have Windows 8.1 **UPDATE 1** I found a hotfix for July 2013 and it seems to be working. Not sure though. I'm going to give it a test run and update you guys after a few campaign missions. Here's the link of the hotfix for those who may encounter this problem in the future http://combatace.com/files/file/15186-sf2-hotfix-july-2013/ Edited August 19, 2015 by maverickvf142
maverickvf142 Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 **UPDATE 2** Well, I have played about an hour into the game starting near the target. I am going to test starting from home base since most of the crashes either occur shortly after takeoff from runway or when I decide to refly after unsatisfactory results. Refly does not seem to be a problem since I've reflown several missions starting near the target. I will test starting from the runway tomorrow when I have time as well as the refly option. I feel pretty confident that the hotfix took care of the problem BUT again, I was able to play about an hour through a campaign starting from runway before crashing earlier today before the hotfix. Tomorrow is my first day at my new job so I guess I'm gonna have to take a break from SF2 for the rest of tonight.
Spectre8750 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 That sounds good. Hey SF2 has crashed on me with Win7. It's just something that can happen once in a while, but it shouldn't crash a lot.
