crimson.sunrise Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Hello guys, i'm an italian boy who really loved the starfighters... now I got the F104 addon installed over WOV (P3), and a couple of nice italian skin to fly with. The problem is to get the right texture for the wingtip fuel tanks: italian starfighters flew almost always with wingtip FT strapped on, without them the starfighters just not seems the same to me... Well, the texture... while a nice green/grey camo shows on the plane, the fuel tanks are silver (bare metal)! Wishing to fix this, i took a look in the F104 and F104_DATA ini files to know which FT model they refer to... Found this: FuelTankName=Tank170_F104 ...but even if the model it's there (in the Weapon directory), I don't know which texture is applied to! There also are some ini file for the FT but doesn't help. If I only know what texture to edit, i could fix this by myself... (in the F104S mod -found on this same site- there is a F104G_LOADOUT.ini file that allows to choose which fuel tank to mount... and even if I understand how this is done, still don't know how they refer to the single textures...) Thanks you all anyway. Quote
Guest capun Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 All the stock files are in the objects.cat file, you need the cat extractor to get the files for the tank. Once you get the Tank170_F104.LOD for the tank, you can use a hex editor to find the texture bmp file. BTW, normally the files for each tank should be clustered near each other in the cat file. Extract the fuel tank bmp texture file and you can edit it. You just have to be careful where you place the files. If you are using a objects\weapons folder (like in the weapons pack), the files go there, otherwise they go in the objects folder Quote
crimson.sunrise Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 It will take a while (btw I'll be away for a week or so), but I'll take a look ASAP, thanks capun :-) Quote
