I used to go swimming on this base during the time my dad was stationed on Oakland army base.(1967) The runway was situated next to the pool that was covered by a giant quonset hut type structure, and it would rumble as if in an earthquake as the jets powered up for takeoff, and its where I fell in love with the F-4 phantom. :biggrin:
