  1. Hi, heads up on a new version of eech. we're up to 1.6.1w4 now and in this version there's tons of new features and gadgets, look at Simhq or Gotcha's site ( http://home.planet.nl/~jette073/gotcha/ ) for further detalis. Among the more revolutionary ones are the MUCH simplified handling of textures -very easy to implement 'em nowdays -changing them correctly is as hard as ever. Unfortunatly the new version at the Devzone lacks TrackIR-support but the ones available at Simhq supports TrackIR. Note, this could be wrong in a positive manner, there's a chance that the DevZone-version supports TrackIR, I just haven't got the confirm. on that.
  2. Hi, it's been a while since last post here. I'd just like to tell you that there's a new ech-exe ovar in the DevZone. Actually there's 3 versions, since I messed it up (a bit more than usual) The 1.6.1w was the first try, with an enhanced version-check made by jabberwock. That's the reason for cahnging minor version #. Unfortunatly I didn't test it out properly, when released it was soon discovered that it wasn't possible to restart with a saved game I hacked it out and got a version that loaded a saved game OK and put up a new exe (1.6.1w-fixed) Later on more prob's arised: In multiplayer, when the host started a saved game no clients could join, so now the version check is back to Razorworks original. This is the 3rd D/L, called 1.6.1 w (2) There's on D/L for cyrrillic fonts too; CIS 1.6.1 w (2) I'll try to remember to think twice before pushing out a new exe.....
  3. Hi, Retro's made some nice changes to the control-screen of eech and a bunch of other improvments too. The eechmap-tool is incorporated, so you can set up your stick axis directly in-game MP-changes are included, tested for about a month and it seems to work pretty well. The included Readme-file has 'very' important info -so read it first. Retro posted at SimHQ, here's the link: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...c;f=30;t=003695
  4. Hi, just wanted to blow some air into this forum, or is it dead?? - I hope not, MadJeff and BioHaz.. has contributed very well in keeping the old eech alive and developing. Right now it's rather calm, I stopped harassing Jabberwock with bad ideas regarding the MP-part but that's manily due to the fact that his last (dirty) hack seems to result in a stable server 9 times out of 10. I've had it running unattended for a couple of days w/o trouble. Trouble still arises when pilots on bad (laggy) connections tries to join -or is it due to different exe-versions, I'm running an exe that's not released yet. Still in the pipe-line is the sattellite view by Jabberwock. Cannon guided by the look of the pilot by Jabberwock Perhaps a hack that takes away the deadband in throttle on some sticks (with throttle on a slider, there's already no deadband for set-ups with throttle on the z-axis) Implementation of the gwut-code is completed and will be OK in the next release. I assume there's some other thing going on too but I don't remember....
  5. Hi, I want to announce that there's a new version of cohokum.exe available at the DevZone, eech 160w15.zip Changes: Gotcha's GWUT-version is included. I urge you to use it, since the simple txt-based version could create code prob's if an entry is out_of_range and Gotcha's GWUT-program includes info about proper values to the variables. Default-values forsome command-line switches are restored back to Razorworks default-values: cbar=500 cpds=512 cgs=0 New default-values are: cpac=1 cvc=1 If you intend to play MP, please regenerate your eech.ini or edit your curent and set the cpds, cgs and cvc according to the default above. cbar and cpac doesn't affect connectivity. You could try MP with cig=0 (default is cig=1) and report in, there's a slight suspicion that the cig (chopper position interpolation) can disturb comm's
  6. I bet you're running a eech version pre-1.4.6x? The official versions 1.0 - 1.4.1c doesn't support USB-sticks, it was fixed in 1.4.6x d/l at Razorworks site. I strongly recommend you to turn to the Dev-versions made after the source code was released, look at Simhq eech-forum for info. Latest one_in_all version d/l is available at helosim.com -thanks to Lionpride. It includes cohokum.exe version 160w14, a readme that explains all new features made (it's a LOT) and some needed files along with that + all add-on campaigns that's been done and also Winter (for the Alaska-maps) and Kuwait- camo's Only thing that could be missing is a handy joystick mapping tool, find it at Kimchoc's place. http://kimchoceech.homestead.com/index.html
  7. Nope, but I've never seen the Apache or Havoc appear when choosing side.... You've run through the whole set-up? install eeah -run once patch eeah to 1.1e -run once install eech patch to 141c then you're free to choose whatever version later on Remember, if you're using an USB-stick you have to use 146x or later Having a Radeon-card you'll have to use 147x or later Getting rid of the FARP-bug -go to the latest version done by the modders: 160w14. It can be found in the DevZone: http://eech.bollocks.net.nz/ or as "superpoatchw14" at simhq, eech-forum When you're in-game, the map-screen, select "groups" and try to take a "attack"-group
  8. You mean that you can actually NOT choose any Apache longbows or Havocs while in-game? Or is it just at the splash screen with the spinning chopper? If it's the later case, don't be confused by that, the screen is only a blue/red side choise. Also, if you're using an USB-stick, make sure you use version 146x or higher (there's a USB-bug in the earlier versions)
  9. Hi, there's a new version of cohokum.exe available at the DevZone. Both US and Russian fonts (160w14 and CIS-160w14) with full trackIR-support. Please read the readme.html included in the d/l and, if you haven't done that already, use the "super-patch" before implementing the 160w14. It'll give you all add-on maps, campaigns and skirmishes. Additional camo's for winter and Kuwait-desert is nedded, can be found as separate d/l at the DevZone. (I tried to make a new "super-patch" that included everthing, but failed, so it have to wait a while)
  10. I'm very sorry to post this, but... we goofed eech160w13,,,, a late add-on aimed to filter the campaign screen so only MP-games with the correct exe-version was displayed (I think it was the goal) makes some PC's to CTD when entering the campaign screen and only one save-point can be reloaded. I've asked the coder to remove the session filter, so we can build a new exe
  11. What settings for cgs and cvc are you using. To me this looks like you have the cgs=1 and cvc=0. This means you rely on crappy DirectPlay7 code to remove crashed and quitted clients. Jabberwock changes applies to Razorworks own MP-code. Set cgs=0 and cvc=1, this should save the host And if I'm wrong, we still haven't saved the host from crashing :(
  12. I just tested it with an Apache Longbow in The Opium war. Could put it down in any field w/o trouble. Could it be something local in your set-up (but I'm not aware of any know prob's) I've putthe question out in the eechdev mail-list to see if anyone else got this
  13. Hi, a new test-version of eech is out. Get it at the DevZone: http://eech.bollocks.net.nz/ Western as well as Russian version available (different fonts) Read the included readme.html. I has info of new features and fixes (?) + a brief description on how to get it going, a few new files has to be in the right folders.
  14. Hi, I sincerely apologize for busting in tonight. Could have been my fault you crashed out -really sorry. I was looking for a game with 160w12 and was able to connect to you. After asking if it was OK if I joined, I got the impression you were on a scheduled flight with fixed members, so I waited for you to confirm that you saved the game before I left, but the game crashed out before I got the confirmation. The reason I waited for a save is that a client leaving can make the host to crash if you don't change the cvc from cvc=0 to cvc=1 Again -I'm really sorry
  15. Hi, a new TEST-executable is available at the DevZone. Actually 2 new versions is posted, one with Western font (160w12) and one with Russian font (CIS160w12). Don't pick the wrong version. It includes a lot of enhancements and (I hope) added stability to the MP-part. 1) Please, look at the readme.html included. It'll present the current changes. 2) You have to regenerate your eech.ini, rename your current one to remember your current personal settings and edit the new eech.ini. 3) You have to extract the four payload screens to the proper folder, they're packed with full (default) path stored. If you installed eech with another root than "Razorworks" you can find the right place by searching for PayApa.psd. Put these four new ones in the same folder. 4) This is another TEST-executable, bugs can appear http://eech.bollocks.net.nz/
  16. Feel it's time for a try to help out in hosting or joining a MP-game. I'm sure that some MP-hosts can add valuable info to this, but I'll start with some of my experiences: Host considerations: Most reliable: Any Software FW disabled -not a pleasent situation. Ports needed: Direxctplay7: 47624, 2300-2400 both TCP and UDP Masterserver uses 1375 if I read the source right Pilots name 'should' include a clue to any "WUT-settings", as an example I could use "Moje_151D" to indicate that I'm using a WUT-profile Known issues (to me): Even if I forward the correct ports I'm unable to host a game with Norton's FW up. If I put all client's IP in the "Thrusted zone" all goes well. This fact takes away the possibility for "hot-joining". XP's built-in FW is OK if I fwd the ports to the local host IP (192.168.0.xxx). ZoneAlarm FW seems to be a bit more reasonable. I haven't tried it, but read reports on successful hosting with cohokum.exe set to "server priviliges" (or something like that) Client considerations: Don't even try to connect to a host with a different version or indicated WUT. The only outcome is to completly crash the hosts game (and any clients in it). Most reliable: Any Software FW disabled -not a pleasent situation. Ports needed: In theory the same as the Host ports. I've never succeeded in connecting with Norton's FW activated, despite port forwarding -only solution is to set the host and EVERY client IP in the "thrusted zone". This fact takes away the possibility to "hot-join". I belive ZoneAlarm is a bit more reasonable for clients with cohokum.exe set to "server priviliges" (or something like that). Currently I'm running eech behind a D-link 604 router w/o problems hosting or joining, when I set the above mentioned ports in the "virtual server" field of the D-link set-up, pointing to my PCs local IP (192.168.0.xxx) I certainly forgot a bunch of things, but this is the most basic trying to get a MP-game going.
  17. To give a brief info about how to get eech/eeah combo running on your PC nowdays, hope this covers the essentials: Start your PC as usual. Install EEAH -run once patch EEAH up to 1.1E -run once Install EECH patch to 141c if necessary (shouldn't if it's the US-version) Then it's just a swap of cohokum.exe to the desired version, 146x, 147x 151D or 160W? To be safe you should delete the game.cfg when switching exe's, don't think that's required but it doesn't hurt, just remember to reset the game options you want. The 160W7 and later versions don't need any cmnd-line switches, it's all in the eech.ini-file (with a brief explanation). The 160s are still test versions and could be buggy. The current exe is 160W8 and have a couple of bugs that makes it a bit tricky to get a MP going, but I hope a new version will be avialabe soon, tested a bit and looks rock-solid -hopefully it can be posted in a couple of days. A couple of sites to visit: http://forum.biohazcentral.com/viewforum.php?f=38 http://eech.bollocks.net.nz/ -exe's can be found here, you have to register, but it's fast and free http://home.planet.nl/~jette073/ -great info here, including a 151_D.txt "WUT-profile", Not sure about that anymore, but a 151_D.txt will be found here: http://w1.490.telia.com/~u49009324/www/151_D.txt http://www.eech.de.vu/ good eech-.site http://hox.dhs.org/eech/ server-site There's a couple of more new sites, but I don't have the links in this PC Edit: Don't forget all the custom map's and skins http://members.rogers.com/map-room/ http://tarawa.free.fr/ And lot's of this info http://www.aplus.ba/dblazev/wut/faq.htm is still valid, although "WUT-profiles" is now in a plain txt-file, but you still have to figure out to set it.
