File Name: Skin Pack Boston III's, 88Sqn Op Starkey File Submitter: Kristorf File Submitted: 1 Jan 2007 File Category: A20 Skins Skin Pack of Boston MkIII's (A20C) flown by No88 Sqn RAF as part of Operation Starkey. The aircraft were standard RAF/USAAF colours (Dark RAF Green in this case) with black and white bars extending from roughly the centre of the wing to its tips. The white nose weas added to twin engined aircraft ony to aid identification. Six skins included, RH-E/F/R/S, one with RAF Rounds and one with RAF tail bars only. File Name: Wg Cdr J E 'Johnnie' Johnsons Spitfire IXc File Submitter: Kristorf File Submitted: 11 Jan 2006 File Updated: 12 Mar 2006 File Category: Spitfire Skins Spitfire IXc, MK392/JE-J, flown by top ace, 'Johnnie' Johnson while commander of 144 Wing, Kenley, June 1944. Johnson destroyed 12 German aircraft (all FW190 or BF109) in this A/C, and in it scored his last kill of the war on Sept 27th 1944.     Two Seafire IIC (L III), MB244/6-Q and MB229 6-H flown by 899 Naval Air Squadron from HMS Indomitable from Scarpa Flow (Shetland Isles) as part of the British Home Fleet in June 1943. Both A/C have the fuselage stengthening beams fitted for the forward cockpit bulkhead to the radio compartment, and the wing strengtheners required due to the added stresses of carrier landings. Thx to Jester and TonyT for the base template, FBS for the internal layers from his MkVIII template and Robo for weathering and bits from his MkVc template. 4 skins included, 6-H/Q, one with national markings and one with tail flash.

Three skins included, EO-Q, one with national marks and one with tail flash. Thx to Jester for the template, FBS for internals and weathering and Hynkel for (ammended) stencils. All skins 'sharpened' for effect prior to brighting.

Registration letters are believed to be Red with Yellow outlines. The AEAF bands around the fuselage were removed late summer or early autumn 1944, being painted over with fresh, slightly darker paint. The Norwegian flag on the nose is speculative, but it might very well have been applied. Three skins included, E-3/HP904, one with national markings and one with tail flash only. Baldwin was the Wing Leader and had all camflage stripped from his Westland built Seafire and a black anti-glare panel applied. The Far East ID bands were also painted black. File Name: Seafire F MkIII 807 Sqn HMS Hunter June 1945 File Submitter: Kristorf File Submitted: 25 Oct 2006 File Category: Seafire Skins Seafire F MkIII D-5X/PP479 flown by Sub-Lt F Logie of 807 Sqn FAA from HMS Hunter in June 1945. PP479 was issued to 807 Sqn in Sept 1944, but in June 1945, while being flown by Logie a light cross wind lifted the Seafire while about to touch down over all the arrester wires and into the crash barrier, ripping off all three sections of undercart. PP479 was dismantled and stored below decks until 'Hunter' reached Trincomlee, Ceylon, were it was classed as beyond repair and scrapped.
