Bulldog Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 A while ago I had asked on why some of the decals on my planes were not showing up. After reading the decal tutorial I went back and checked, rechecked, and yet checked again how they were set up, and can not find anything wrong. So I though I would post one of the decal files I'm having problems with to see if I am overlooking something. Below is Soulman's MiG-21PMF EGS skin: [Decal001] MeshName=VertTail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT Reverse= FilenameFormat=FinFlash Position=-5.30,1.20 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal002] MeshName=VertTail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=FinFlash Position=-5.30,1.20 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal003] MeshName=RightOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=2.63,-2.55 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal004] MeshName=RightOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=2.63,-2.55 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=LeftOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-2.63,-2.55 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=LeftOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-2.63,-2.55 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal007] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=MiG-21PFM/EGS/D/EGSNUM Position=4.09,0.05 Scale=1 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal008] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=MiG-21PFM/EGS/D/EGSNUM Position=4.09,0.05 Scale=1 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal009] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=MiG-21PFM/EGS/D/right Position=2.25,0.1 Scale=1 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal010] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=MiG-21PFM/EGS/D/left Position=2.25,0.1 Scale=1 DecalMaxLOD=3 Also, what does adding "DecalMipMapLevels=3" to the ini files do? Adding this in the MiG ini file got decals #9 and #10 to show up, but no numbers. Finally, I am wondering if some of this may be due to the fact I'm running this game on an older computer (700mhz Athlon, 1gb RAM, Nvdia GeForce 440 MX 128mb). Ive just noticed yesterday the German numbers that are built in the game are not showing up as well. Quote

Awhile back there was something similar with the A-4 (Check third wire forum). It had to do with the decal INI's having just one extra digit (a typo) in the mix. The numbers showed up on the left side but not the right side of the fuselage. Maybe its along those lines. Good Luck. Quote
Bulldog Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) Nope, that wasn't the problem, although I had not thought of that. I should also mention this is only happening with third party skins. Edited February 22, 2006 by Bulldog Quote
+HrntFixr Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 try the decal level for the numbers... DecalLevel= Decals can made to use different textures based on one of the four dynamic variables: aircraft?s Nation ID, Squadron ID, Aircraft Number, and Kill Number. You select which variable the decal should use by setting the DecalLevel, as follow: DecalLevel=0 ?> Nation ID DecalLevel=1 ?> Squadron ID DecalLevel=2 ?> Aircraft Number DecalLevel=3 ?> Kill Number find the decal tutorial download, it's alot of help. Bulldog Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Well, after a second parusal of the tutorial I'm still not finding whats wrong, but I'm sure it's at the tip of my nose, lol. Instead of banging my head on this, I decided to try making my own skins using existing textures, and I'm happy to say it's been a success.. So far I've made skins for a N Vietnamese MiG-21 F-13 and a Libyan Mirage F-5EQ (closest I could get to the E models they do have...perfect for the Libya terrain). I was hoping to get into skinning eventually but I guess this gave me the push into it. Thanks for all the help guys. Quote
