SDirickson 0 Posted February 19, 2003 The rope was used in early ship battles for Marine snipers to properly identify comrades on the enemy ship through the smoke. I just thought it was a very nice peice of obscure american history... now tell me, why do the marines carry a saracen sword, an since when and why is there a red stripe on the pant leg... that wasnt on the sniper expose on the history channel.
