Guest capun Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 People have been asking questions about creating your own missions. I documented what I did to create my own. It is not perfect but a start. Get it in the SPF1 Utilities Downloads Quote

Guest capun Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 dfang You can use notepad to save the mission as .txt and then use Windows Explorer to rename the file to .msn You can also associate .msn files to be opened by Notepad. Do you have a lot of Windows Experience to do the changes? Quote

dfang Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 Hi capun, Im still unclear as how to convert saved notepad txt files to msn files. I looked for Rev 3,but could only find Rev 2.I d/l Mitch's factory complex, in the readme there is a mission file,i copyed it to notepad and saved it as txt file, now im tryin to convert it to msn soz i can select it in single mission.I hate to act ignorant, but i just don't know. thanks again, dfang  Quote
Guest capun Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 dfang By default, Notepad will add the .txt to the filename. You can them use Windows Explorer to change it to .msn For example, Notepad creates a file called mymission.txt Use Windows Explorer and rename it to mymission.msn (Left click on the file, right click to bring a drop down menu, select rename) You also have to create a Missions subdirectory in the Strike Fighters directory tree. It is not created automatically during install. You put your .msn files there. You can also associate the .msn files with NotePad. -In Windows Explorer click Tools, Folder Options -Select File Types -Press New and associate the msn extension to Notepad. After you do this, you then can save NotePad files as .msn Quote

MajBlunder Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 There is another way of doing this While in notepad right click file then select save as, in the Save as file type dropdown select all files, then in the file name use "(Quotation marks) in front of the name and at the end like this "MyMission.msn" select where ya want the file saved to then click save Learned this from writing config files for Q3 engine based games hope this helps MajBlunder Quote
