Guest Charles Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 The "Fee", being the Royal Aircraft Factory F.E. 2B, for service on the Western Front. Coming soon .... Quote
+sinbad Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Thanks Charles. Another wonderful addition to the early war stable. Now the DH-2s will have more to escort. The more the merrier! sinbad Quote
+pcpilot Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Ya know, from appearances, its amazing men had the guts to fly in such rackety crates like that. Put me in one of those at 5000 feet and youd have fingerimpressions in the frame, vomit in the cockpit, and my knees shaking would probably rattle it apart... Cool plane Charles, looking forward to...flying...it...*hic* Quote
Guest capun Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 There was an optional or field mod that added a rear firing gun for the observer/gunner. It was mounted on a pedestal to clear the wings. The gunner had to stand up to fire it. Now that took guts to do that, and I don't know if they were strapped or tether. If not, they better had good balance Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 It would have to be a short tether. Could you imagine coming in just dangling and waiting to hit the ground at whatever their stall speed is? It was low back then, but way to fast to run! Quote
