Southside Bucky 1 Posted May 3, 2007 (edited) Hi guys. Just uploaded Quick Mission No.4, at the Combat Ace downloads section. Titled: Billy Bishop's Dawn Raid. It's a re-enactment of the action that earned him the Victoria Cross on June 2nd 1917. The 'Read Me' (which is longer than ever!) will talk you through it... Get It Here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4623 Hope you like it, but again, feedback of any kind would be welcome. Regards. Bucky. Bandy 3 Posted May 3, 2007 Billy Bishop's Dawn Raid.... Bucky! Really looking forward to this! Bishop is a childhood hero for many a Canadian boy (maybe lost to recent generations now...), and despite the bad publicity he got a few years back (The kid that couldn't miss), that controversial issue has largely been debunked. He was a loner, so didn't make many friends... Anyways, many thanks a head of time, as I can't fly from my work computer
Southside Bucky 1 Posted May 3, 2007 Yeah, He's been much maligned over the years, BBRFC...Those detractors should hang their collective heads in shame IMO! It must've been difficult for you to single out a Canadian WW1 pilot as a hero...There were so many outstanding ones! I hope it meets with your approval. All the best. Bucky. Guest Charles Posted May 3, 2007 Nice mission, Bucky, thanks. Plenty of low-level action, and targets. Damned hard to see much at that time of the morning, though :)
Southside Bucky 1 Posted May 3, 2007 Thanks for the kind words Charles, glad you liked it. If the lighting bothers you, you could open the mission and change the time...try advancing it in half hour increments, until it suits you. If you wouldn't mind I'd love to hear your (or anyone else's) views on the difficulty factor, ie, too hard or too easy? Thanks again. Bucky.

Bandy 3 Posted May 4, 2007 (edited) Bucky, Flew it last night, and as mentioned by Charles, lots of low level antics. Great Fun! I had an odd arrival though, the static aircraft were not on the field, so I just decided to hedge-hop in and shoot it up a bit. I took out all but one Maxim before I realized that aircraft were suddenly taking off (I heard them more than saw them). Ended up taking three of them down after a prolonged and rather hairy low level stall fest, had one NME softlanding, and then tried to strafe the rest of the parked craft, but they do not seem to act like ground targets. Even that one MG left unscathed made it tough, so I bugged out after seeing no further effect. I remember flying IB's static AC missions, and there was one in that pack where you were approaching an airfield, and depending on timing, which varied from mission to mission (even if you had to refly ) you might just see it take off or just as often encounter it at 1000 ft. I suppose there is a random element involved that cannot be taken into account, but none-the-less makes it just as interesting the next time. Thanks! Southside Bucky 1 Posted May 5, 2007 No static aircraft BBRFC...What's goin' on there? You are using the latest Flanders terrain, yeah? Regarding the looping and soft landing AI planes, I've tried everything to try 'n stop it, but until TK addresses the odd behaviour (hopefully, in the next patch), we'll have to live with it. The Parked A/C do blow up, but not too easily, which is quite realistic I suppose. LOL Gambit! Don't say I didn't warn ya! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your input fella's. Bucky.
