Gauge help

Hello,

 

I've decided I want to try my hand at modding some things. What I am really interested in is making new gauges and avionics stuff. Is there an explanation anywhere of how to make a gauge, what sort of functions are available to it, what sort of things we can call from the avionics60 and 70 dlls?

 

For example if I wanted to make something like an HSI but different than the stock HSI, how would I do it? Or if I wanted to put HUD text inside a gauge, is that possible?
