+Bongodriver Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Hi, I noticed in the weapons folder there is a lod for a paratrooper, but it does not show up in the weapon editor or in game, is it possible to make a working para, i.e. one that will drop say like a retarded bomb and then function on the ground as say a gun platform, I notice there are entries in the gundata for small arms. and while on the subject could it be possible to make an air droppable vehicle with similar effect? Yes, I have started moddeling another Hercules (still haven't finished my Hawk) and wan't to make some realistic loads for it. Quote

Looks funny and needs improving. It hasn't been made yet that they stay visable when they hit the ground, they just disappear. Maybe you will be the first. If you can model it, it will work in some fashion. It would be nice to see a LAPES with different payloads on it. What version Herc are you going to make? Quote

I will make the regular no stretched and the J model too, I know the J has been done but I just wan't to cut my teeth on modelling and have chosen aircraft I like. Back to the para question, what factors affect the issue of dissappearing when it hits the ground, I dont see any entries in the weapon editor that touch the issue, I was wondering if the troop or vehicle could be made as a ground object but use a parachute delivery system as the weapon entry. Guest Saganuay82 Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I don't think you can get a GO to act as a droppable weapon. They disappear cause they are set up as bombs with no effects. So you hang them in the cargo bay and fire them out the back as bombs, the chute deploys and away they go. The J was done, some folks would like to have an A to replace the one that came with SFP1 but isn't included in some versions. Since TRANSPORT doesn't work most people don't use it but its still fun to fly. I use it as a CC130T. Some new payloads would be cool though. New weapons they would have to be without explosives. Perhaps you could try making a weapon that looks like a tank / vehicle and then when you land you drop it. It appears on the ground and you taxi away from it and take off again. TK is making more patches but not on those lines. Quote
