Elton Hyland Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Buzzing along at 350 kts makes it very difficult to find ground targets. Any tricks that will make it easier?? E.H.
+pcpilot Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Fly just a little slower. When you notice green glowing balls flyin past yur canopy, you found some ground targets. Matter of fact, right then might be a good time to look behind you. If you see a pillar of smoke headin yur way, you've found MORE targets... just pullin yur leg... though I might add the aeriel scouts in Vietnam did just that in their loaches... :0)
SDirickson Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 I always look for the smoke from the FAC, or I hit 'e' and 'r' till I padlock the right target. But like pcpilot said, flying along at 350 may be a bit fast. I know Thud pilots used to do there run in's at 540+ knots, and that really cuts down on your time to distinguish your target, but they were normally bombing larger, more easibly definable objects.
