+Brainless Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 (edited) I've got a problem with Monty's absolutely great B29 AI A/C when trying to get the aircraft to follow waypoints after the bomb run set in the Mission Builder. The B29s fly to the target just fine (my flight is escorting them to deal with Migs) but as soon as the bombers have dropped their bombs they fly off at the bomb-drop heading and won't follow the flight plan waypoints which are set to return them back to base. This is a tad annoying as my flight can't escort them back home and I have to leave them to fly away across the landscape while my flight returns to base. I've tried all I know ( which I guess isn't much) like setting lower bombing heights, resetting different waypoint directions and orientations and waypoint commands like Marshall point. I have encountered the problem before with other A/C but I don't remember finding a solution. Anyone have the answer? BTW I'm using '1500' 'size' in all waypoints running in a new Korean instal on WOE base. Edited September 3, 2007 by Brainless Quote

[Waypoint[01] 1233947,454304,0= 7= 1= WAYPOINT= FALSE= Second, you cannot have 2 IPs and 2 Objectives. Only 1. Use a Take Off, Depart, Waypoint, IP, Objective, waypoint , Approach, Land Lineup, Land Touchdown. Max of 16 points. You can try the Marshal Point but I haven't seen it working yet or what it does in game. Quote

Originally I had the standard waypoints as you point out but you had the file I was messing with to see if changing things around made any difference. It doesn't.Taking out the 'junk' waypoints in the editor doesn't make any difference either!! Marshall point forces the AIs to fly to that point rather than directly to the IP point after take off. But again none of this makes any difference to the bombers ignoring the flight plan once they have dropped their bombs. I'm going to try a standard route without setting a target to see what happens. I can't seem to get on with the new editor if you mean the French one unless Kreelin's has been updated and I don't know about it. Thanks. Quote
Guest Saganuay82 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Well as I said you don't need a marshal point to make them fly directly to the point. The planes will fly to any waypoint you set. So set a Takeoff, then a Waypoint, then waypoint again if you want then IP then Objective. Where did you get Kreelins editor cause the one I got from here doesn't do that. The old one did. I don't use the French one either. What is your version #? Quote

I think I've got this sorted see image The bombers follow the last heading after bombing regardless of anything else set so if the bombing heading is set at the return heading the bombers go back to base!! Mission Bulder I have is 1.05..is this the latest version? Thanks for responding Quote

So yes, since they hit IP at 6 then bomb at 7 of course they will go home after that cause 8 is close to home base. Move 8 back or add another point after 7 offset from the return heading. They are going home right? Quote

It's as hereunder:- 4 - waypoint 5 - IP 6 - Objective point 7 - Marshall point 8 -Marshall point 9- approach 10- Land Lineup 11- Land I didn't get a chance to complete the flight last night but I'm running it again tonight to see if it all works but I suspect that whilst the bombers will go in the direction of the home base they won't land there but we shall see. I am using the latest KMD aren't I?? BTW this particular problem only seems to occur with some a/c mainly large bombers but most fighters and small airplanes don't suffer from this issue and I wonder why this is. Quote

I have now completed a full mission with this flightplan and as expected the bombers don't land. They just fly a ragged formation at the last waypoint heading after bombing. As they are not flying back to my base ( I break off to land at an alternative) I guess this is an approximation of a realistic escort flight. Quote
