Need help with SFP1 and Burning Sands '83

Recommended Posts

Hi together,

just got my fresh SFP1 Box from Ebay and was looking forward to play that Burning Sand 1983 thing, cause reading the article @simhq was making me hot of this mod / sim.

Its a "all new version" with the F104 implemented, published by JUST FLIGHT.

So I installed SFP1, fetched the latest 75 MB patch that i found there : ThirdWirePatch

The other one there (6 MB) was not appliable.

I also found a couple of other patches (SP1 to SP4 and some 1.31 and 1.32 version patches) but all of these were not installable after

the big 75 MB patch.

Anyway : It was running fine with this patch @ version 05.15.06 in the Main Menu screen.

Then i downloaded all the four BS 1983 files here at combatsim :

- Burning Sands 1983

- Burning Sands Upgrade

- Burning Sands 1983 sp4 update

- Burning Sands Upgrade II

I extracted them in the above order all in the SFP1 directory and also i applied the latest weapon pack.

But : I cannot run the sim anymore, it crashed immediately to desktop without doing anything.

Is there anything i've done wrong or I missed ?

Hope someone can answer my questions.

Thanks a lot

cu

Chris

Here's a little help.

Burning Sands Upgrade and Burning Sands 1983 are not the same and should not be installed on top of each other. They are to separate "enhancements" or add-ons.

I would suggest creating TWO separate installs: Burning Sands Upgrade and Burning Sands 1983. So, you will have:

SFP1

SFP1 Burning Sands Upgrade

SFP1 Burning Sands 1983

Install SFP1, Patch, create a copy. Then use the read-me instructions

Take your time, follow the instructions carefully.

There are others here who know more about this than I do. Someone will be alomg to help, if you need it.

okay......again no success :-(

I installed SFP1.

I applied the patch to v05.15.06 (all other patches are not installable to my version)

I made a copy of the "Strike Fighters" folder and renamed the new one to "Strike Fighters BS 1983"

Then i extracted the file (got it from here) "[2232]Burning_Sands_1983.rar" and the file (also from here) "burning sands 1983 sp4 update.rar" both into the "Strike Fighters BS 1983" root folder....select Overwrite all. ok.

Then i applied the (hopefully) latest Weapons Pack ("WeaponsPack_03Jul06.exe") and pointed the installer to the same folder.

Then i created a shortcut with the "Flightsim.exe" from this new folder on the desktop.

But : No Game - immediate CTD.

Original Game is still runnin fine :(

Is this so hard or am i this stupid ?

The Readme does just say nothing else besides the above procedure.

That's not the latest patch...latest one is dated 08.30.06.

Okay, try installing the Weapons Pack first, then installing the Burning Sands 1983 addon campaign.

Let us know how it goes.

Still does not work ....

Patched to to v051506

then patched up to v083006

Extracted Burning Sand 1983 and SP4 update

Applied Weapon Pack

Still CTD :dntknw:

btw : the seperate mod BS upgrades I and II do work fine. What a pity that there is no F14 for the campaign available.

this is the reason i would prefer the BS 1983 version.

I have the following patches left, but i think that they are older :

sfp1_p31.exe

sfp1_p32.exe

SFP1_sp1.exe

SFP1_sp2a.exe

SFP1_sp3a.exe

this CANT be all so complicated, i am used to apply mods a.s.o. for example in rfactor.

:sorry:

EDIT : the original BS 1983 readme says the following : "Extract the contents to a clean install of Strike Fighters SP3.2. "

The BS 1983 SP4 readme says "Just extract into main folder of SFP1 SP4"

I thought 051506 IS Service Pack 4 ???

But i did not worked with this Version nor with the newer 083006 version.....

hrrrrr

getting tired :(

Create a clean install of SF.

Install the 74Mb patch at thirdwire.

install Latest weapons upgrade here at CombatAce

*note* The patch must be applied before you install weapons pack or the patch WILL DELETE the weapons update.

Download "Burning Sands 1983" and Extract into temporary folder.

Open your SF folder and manually install BS1983 Campaings, FLight, Pilotdata, Terrain, Sounds, Effects.

NOW when you get to the "Objects" folder DO NOT install any DLL. files. For example AIRCRAFTOBJECT.DLL

Install ONLY the Aircraft in the aircraft folder .INI files and the CVN files.

All of the CVN files that are scattered in the objects folder should be put in the CVN-75 folder in your

ground objects folder. If you dont have the CVA-63 or CVN-75 they can be found in the BS1983_sp4 seperate download.

If you get confused in any way or just suddenly become lazy, Install ALL files manually including .DLL files, and then only reapply the 74mb patch and latest weapons pack and the sound files

from the BS1983. Because the patch will delete the weapons pack and overwrite the sound files.

Btw- YOU ONLY NEED THE 74MB SERVICE PACK FOR THIS TO WORK.

Let us know if this helps
