2 part problem - question

Recommended Posts

Here is the deal (a 2 part question)-

Part 1: problem: How to add a skin? I did it before but i must be missing a step. I unzip the downloaded skin, move the skin folder to the correct aircraft folder in sfp1 then i update the ini for the next texture###. And it won't show. As per readme instructions.

Part 2: problem: I have 2 planes of the same type (f-86f). The original folders are named identically. What needs changing to get both f-86's to show as selectable aircraft??? Note- they are different, complete, models of the same aircraft from different builders. Just renaming the folder and changing the AircraftFullName in the ini won't do it......

I pulled down the "Huff" skin and the f-86f made by Zur. This plane shows as pure white no skin, no Huff skin either..........

What am i missing??

thanks for the help,

savagkc

I resolved part 2 by re-naming all the files in the folder from f-86f to f-86fz.

But still - no skin shows....

Part 1: the aircraft.ini file texture entry is critical. For example to add the 143Saber skin this is my entry

[TextureSet001]

Directory=USAFSilver1

Name=USAF Silver

Nation=USAF

Specular=1.00

Glossiness=0.50

Reflection=1.00

[TextureSet002]

Directory=143Saber

Name=143Saber

Nation=USN

Specular=3.00

Glossiness=2.50

Reflection=3.00

My guess is either the TextureSet002 is not correct (as an example) or your skin name and subdirectory does not match

Part 2: Have you copied all of the files required? you need the LOD, ini's, BMP's and cockpit directory (plus the aircraft directory has to be different)

Hope it helps

Well, I guess if i were younger i would be embarrased!

I found the problem.....

It was the sub-directories. When i unzip a file, i put it into a special unzipped folder not the real destination folder.

Instead of just copying the filesin a skin folder, i copied the folder into itself.......

i.e.,

sfp1

objects

aircraft

f-86f

huff

huff

One to many Huffs.... sorry, red face and lose 1 attaboy (add one to the "other" column).

thanks,

savagkc
