When the opening movie runs,starting with the aircraft carrier.The option to close with the escape button just doesn't work and the game locks up. Got the latest patch and a kick butt pc, so whats causing this conflict. Any help please.

I think that you may be aware that there's an option of disabling the intro movie in the game setup (configuration) application. go to Start>All Programs> Il2 Sturmovik 1946 > Configure IL2... there's a ckeckbox to skip the movie...

 

Another known issue with this tile is that the game initially tends to stall after it's newly installed at the main menu screen initially, but afterwards things should be Ok... What's your System specs anyway?
