wenkman Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Hello everyone, the Thirdwire F-104G remains very popular especially with the newest mods available. Therefore, I would like to get rid of one thing which I never like on this model: the extra extended nose gear. It always looks like there is no gun built in or at least some other equipment which lets the aircraft go up at the nose gear. Is it possible to reduce the nose wheel extension to a "normal" size? FastCargo Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Why? If the real F-104G had it, why would you get rid of it? FastCargo Quote

+Spillone104 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Why? If the real F-104G had it, why would you get rid of it? FastCargo I think no. I've seen for real the F-104G (static) and F-104S and i can confirm that the stock TW F-104G have a too high nose gear. But I've seen photos of the earlier F-104A/C and they have the nose gear a bit higher than the G model maybe for the reason of carring the AIR-2 Genie with that complex sistem for the release. Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I got every time a CTD when i try to fly the new F-104G GAF.. cause of some probs with the skins .. the standart skin "number1) works well but the others doesn`t . The Marine version works godd with both only the GAF makes a CTD Quote
wenkman Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 Allright then, has anybody an idea how to lower the front gear, please? Quote
FastCargo Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I never implied the F-104G actually had an extended nose wheel...that's why I said 'If'. Anyway... You can't physically alter the model. You could however do an data.ini edit. Goto the data.ini for that model and look at the nose wheel entry. I think there are some numbers that specify how 'springy' the nosewheel shock is. I'll bet if you tweak those numbers, you might be able to get the nose wheel strut to 'compress' a lot more. FastCargo Quote

That's it. Having this in mind, it is a matter of CGPosition. Therefore I successfully changed the data.ini to read [AircraftData] CGPosition=0.00,2.17,0.00 It is still good flying and it looks "real" Quote
