Janus Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Hey there, I`ve been flying EECH for quite some time now and I was wondering wether it is more realistic to fly with or without Cross Coupling. So my question is: Do modern choppers like the RAH-66 and the AH-64 have a cross coupling or is it still up to the pilot to correct the effect of torque changes? I do have rudder pedals so i was quickly abled to handle the new effect, but in the heat of the fight i would often wish to have this system on my side. Thanks for help to all of you.
+JediMaster Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I'm almost 100% positive the RAH-66's computer did that for the pilot. I'm 75% certain the Apache does it. In every Apache/Longbow sim I've played (Jane's, DI's, etc), the helo wouldn't yaw with torque changes. However, DI's sequel, Hind, DID have it. That makes me think that they did it properly, with the older Hind requiring pilot compensation for torque changes but the AH-64 handling it for the pilot. Of course, the Hokum is coaxial so it doesn't apply. Not sure at all about the Havoc. It's newer than the Hind, but whether it was seen as something worth including I don't know. I'm also fairly certain the AH-1 doesn't do it for you either, but I'm not certain about the new AH-1Z.
Janus Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 Just as i thought myself thanks for help. The only thing that supprised me was that the ah1 did need pilot compensation, but the bird isn`t the newest model neither. Again thanks for helping me out!
