Campaigns without nodes?

Say I wanted to make a Cold War campaign where you intercept bombers off of Alaska for a few days or so. Would I still need to have nodes even though there would just be interceptors and bombers?

has far has i know nodes are only for ground forces movment so they in this case are not needed but im not in the past there whas some DRV campaings whitout nodes they dint have cas mission or ground forces moving so just forget the Nodes on this one.
