FSX Exit Menu

Hey folks. Hopefully someone can help me. In FSX, after a flight I hit the Esc key to bring up the exit menu. This used to work, and almost does now, but now I hit it and nothing happens. If I hit it again, the menu pops up shortly and goes back into the game. I can also search around with the mouse and click buttons after the first time I hit Esc. Its like the menu is there and I just cant see it. Any help with this?
