gbreuder Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 View File U-2E 4028th SRS - Vietnam A skin depicting the three U-2E aircraft deployed to Vietnam in early 1964 -- 56-6680,56-6703, & 56-6707. The U-2E differed from the Basic A model by modifying it for inflight refueling. 3 aircraft were converted, and 5 J75 powered U-2C models were converted to U-2Fs by the same modification. These U-2Es were with the 4028th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron of the 4080th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. The 4028th SRS flew high-altitude reconnaissance missions, photographing SAM sites near Hanoi and Haiphong harbor. On February 11th 1966, the 4080th SRW was redesignated the 100th SRW and moved to Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. The SRS detachment at Bien Hoa AB, South Vietnam, was redesignated the 349th SRS. Credit goes to the guest who developed the U-2A. Submitter gbreuder Submitted 10/01/2009 Category Multi Engined Bomber, Transport, Light Attack and Trainer Skins
