The only thing better that the transsonic wave is the supersonic wave. Test flights on Tu-22 revealed that if it flies supersonic below 4000m the brickwork on the ground cracks.

The 'transonic wave' as it is inaccurately called, only occurs at certain speeds and certain humidity levels. Outside of that, you won't see such a thing.

If i understand - this is unpredictable and non-linear phenomenon without stable air speed. But it's awesome...
