Gamespy Reviews Far Cry And Stamps It...

Recommended Posts

GameSpy has posted a 3-page review on Far Cry. The short and sweet version of it is:

  • 4 out of 5 stars
  • It's been stamped with the GameSpy Editors Choice award
  • Multi-player is good

The Pros:

  • Fantastic new engine produces lots of breathtaking visuals
  • Impressive AI and combat
  • Lots of replay value

The Cons:

  • Many areas require a lot of trial-and-error
  • Huge system requirements
  • Weak plot and story

Click here to read the full review if you absolutely must, but I say, just wait for Fates' spin. That's the one that counts. :)

You know, I've heard a lot about the need for good system reqs, but I was able to play the demo on my P3 800Mhz, GForce2, 512 MB PC133 RAM computer just fine. I had med-low settings, but it still looked and played great. I'm gonna get this as soon as I get out from under my parents wings.

True enough. Many of the games out there can be played on older systems once the settings are dialed down appropriately.

There are countless posts on the UBI forums by LockOn users that are playing the game just fine on systems that are 2-3 years off the current high-end gear that's available.

It's nice to see that the developers realize we all can't go out and buy a shiny new puter every year. :)
