manlyman564 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 will off work in windows 7 thinkng about purchasing it Quote
Von Paulus Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 In my case better than in XP. It runs well in 32bits and in 64bits. Quote
Maxiku Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I've been running OFF and (more recently) Hat In The Ring on Win7 64 bit for months. Never had a crash - I'm really happy with OFF on Win 7. Quote
12oclockhigh Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I don't know what's up with my machine but OFF runs poorly on AMD64 bit CPU and Win7 64 bit. Other more graphically challenged games run just super but OFF was so bad I moved it to my old XP 32 bit and AMD 32 bit machine. On that machine it preforms well and is quite enjoyable. Quote
Von Paulus Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Strange indeed 12oclockhigh. Could you give us more details, rig specs and what is running bad. Quote
12oclockhigh Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 My latest build is an AMD 64 bit quad 3.2Ghz. with 4 gb. ram and ATI5870 card. Mobo is Asus M4A79t. Win 7 Premium Home 64 bit OS. Anything I put in this machine runs super fast at max settings....except OFF. If I install OFF and don't tweak too much I'll get 4-5 FPS out of the box. After the compatibility stuff and some dedicated tweaking maybe I'll hit 15 to 20 FPS. My old machine is an AMD quad 2.6 Ghz. with 4 gb. ram, WIN XP 32 bit and ATI 5770 card. I forget what the mobo is. Now here's the thing. I can set up both of my machines side by side and run OFF on both, (I know I only paid for one license but this is in the interest of science so I hope the OFF guys don't get upset.) Anyway, setting both machines identically and restarting until both game environments are the same (ie. sunny day, few clouds) my older, slower XP machine runs at a solid and enjoyable 40 to 50 FPS. The new computer under Win 7 and with the good card struggles at 20-25 FPS. And that's the scoop. Yes, I've installed correctly and yes I've read the FAQ and tried all the tips that made sense. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Quote
Von Paulus Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I suppose that OFF is configured in the same way in both computers, right? Try to tweek ATI drivers. I've AA 2x, AF 4x and Catalyst set for Higher. Every 3D setting is set for performance. Turn out disk indexing in Win7. Set OFFmanager.exe and CFS3.exe to Run as Administrator in the compatibility tab. Use the last set ATI drivers 10.1. Finally move your problem to the General Help Thread instead the Knowledge thread. Yes, both game configs are the same. I'm gonna have a look at the CFS3 files. Thanks for your help. Quote
