Check Six Ati Drivers

The French Check-Six website is currently hosting a set of special Catalyst 4.5 drivers tweaked especially for Il-2:FB. I tried em out, upgrading from Cat 4.4's, and saw an increase of over 20fps.

 

Basically, these drivers almost single handedly made the Perfect graphic settings playable, even in campaign.

 

I'm seeing around 30 - 40 fps with Perfect settings, 1024x768 res, 4xAA and 2x FSAA, in campaign.

 

Not bad at all.

Currently using the beta 4.6 drivers that I found on Guru3d.com and they work great on FB. Frames rates up w/ perfect mode. Still not playable with my little system, but the frames rates went up from 6 fps to about 20 fps average. AMD XP2000+ w/ 9600XT @ 1024x768 32 bit. 40 or so average on Black death at excellent settings.

 

Maybe I should pay attention to dates, 4.6 was released today. I'm a day late and a dollar short as usual.

on my lowly system

 

8x6 32 perfect mode 27 avg low 7 high of 58

10x7 perfect mode 24.5 low 9 high of 46

 

8x6 4xaa, 2xaf perfect 25.13 low 8 high of 54

10x7 4xaa 2xaf excellent 26.7 low 8 high of 68

 

alot smoother in running perfect anyway.

 

this is on my desktop Amd xp2000 w/9600Xt 512 meg ram

Alright, I just tried the new 4.6's. I got an average of 24fps on the Black Death track. Going back to the Check Six 4.5's I got 26fps. Same settings on both, 10x7 32, 4xAA, 2xFSAA Perfect.

 

This is all runnin on my Alienware:

3.0ghz p4

1g RAM

Radeon 9800 Pro 256

 

So, I'd say you're doing something right if you're getting only 3fps lower on your "lowly" system.

Yeah, I'm keeping the C6 4.5's. I can finally play a campaign in all of its glory.
