I'm getting a "Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x800)" message when trying to install the bove progams.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening. It's only happening with certain programs.

It looks like the programs are attempting to install in C:Programs(x86) by default, without allowing me to select the destination.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you install CM into it's default location, does it? Remember, not to have any CM Devices plugged into your computer AND not to have any virus protection running during installation of CM.

Installation Instructions

BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEWEST VERSION OF CONTROL MANAGER' date=' BE SURE TO UNINSTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONS FROM YOUR COMPUTER. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT ANY ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE IS DISABLED.

Are you installing CM from the enclosed CD or, from CH Products Website Have you tried installing CM into the default location? And, is your anti virus protection off?

And, have you tried installing to the default location?

The later versions don't give you the option of an installation

directory, particularly those that deal with Vista (and presumably

Win7). They'll go to '\Program Files" if it's a 32-bit version of the

OS, "Program Files( x86)" if it's a 64-bit version of the OS. It's not

the CM, it's the way Windows does things.

Ok, that's helpful.

I'm on Win 7 64-bit, it's defaulting to (Program Files (x86), then I get a dialogue box "Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x800)"

I have administrator access.

Could there be a problem with/in the Install Shield folder, maybe?

It's only happening with CH/TIR/AOL. I had no problem installing SF2 series.

Man, it is hard to fly without TIR, once you've used it..

At least I can program my stick/throttle.

Thanks for the help, btw.

When you say you are successful in programming your controllers, does that mean you were successful in installing CM? Or, are you assigning in the game?

A quick Google shows that iKernel is the Installshield installer engine. The Control Manager doesn't use InstallShield since back around version 2.

Yes, I edited the in-game control file.

Ok, if CH doesn't use InstallShield, then I'm not sure what's happening.

That seems to suggest that there's something in the Win7 environment which is preventing installation of specific software, like TIR, CH, etc.

Guess I need to contact the pc builder.

TIR support sent me a file that works!

I think it's simply a file folder with all of the files decompressed.

Now if I could get something similar from CH....
