SkyStrike Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Hello Everyone; Finally we get a game with a stock selection 4th Gen. , 4.5th Gen. & 5th Gen fighter jets for the PC. Yes I understand it's an arcade; but it could be a start... Link posted below: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/11/27/ace-combat-assault-horizon-comes-to-pc.aspx Plus there's some information posted on Namco's Offcical website confirming this.: http://acecombatassaulthorizon.namcobandaigames.eu/section/news/ Quote
B52STRATO Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 A modern Heroes of the Pacific ? Many people finds this AC bad compared to its predecessors, bad gameplay (HAWX lookalike), and few free aircrafts. Quote
FastCargo Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Could be a start for what? It's Ace Combat...you're not going to get anything more that you already do. There have already been games out with 4th and 5th gen aircraft for some time. Also, there was another thread on this subject (which has disappeared, not sure how) in which most of the folks said that this version of Ace Combat was craptastic...so I don't see any benefit to us releasing it to PC. Caesar Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I think I was one of those people, FC. It was pretty craptastic, basically a glorified rail shooter that took away from everything that made Ace Combat good. You never really fly to outmaneuver your opponent, you fly to get close to their six and then enter "DOGFIGHT MODE!" during which one of my friends held the controller above his head, mashed some buttons as best he could, and still managed to splash the bandit with missiles about 250ft in front of him. It's like you are watching a movie. Got a guy behind you? Don't try to evade classically, get the arrows on the HUD to meet up as you slow down and do a "DOGFIGHT MANEUVER!" to get him off your six and watch a cool animation as your jet does a tight high yo-yo or cobra to take the advantage...egh... Sorry for the rant. I'm just utterly unimpressed with AC:AH, am glad I didn't buy it for XBOX, won't be buying it for PC and will stick with SF2, which gives me props to 5th gen and a customizable range of realism, or DCS when I'm feeling up for some in-depth detail. FC Well... I was thinking that as a result of this other developers may think on releasing some modern Jet sims for PC users... You said that there had been (PC?) games with with 4th and 5th gen aircraft for some time.. Other than the Strike Fighters series & LOMAC are there any others? SkyStrike Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 A modern Heroes of the Pacific ? Many people finds this AC bad compared to its predecessors, bad gameplay (HAWX lookalike), and few free aircrafts. Correct me if i'm wrong; but wasn't the HAWX series a spin-off of the Ace Combat series? AC:AH has 30+ stock aircraft; all of them well detailed and rendered. (The aircraft model detail in HAWX left a lot to be desired) All Aircraft in AC:AH have accurate cockpits and loadouts (This feature was missing in both Heroes Of the Pacific & HAWX) Quote
FastCargo Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 HAWX is in no way related to Ace Combat...totally seperate development houses and publishers. The gameplay is similar to Ace Combat...but that is it. Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters - another craptastic entry - http://www.evolvedga...ASF-english.htm If you count the F-22 just on its own, you can go all the way back to the mid 1990s with titles from Novalogic, Interactive Magic, and DID. And the Jetfighter series of games...with the F-22, F-23, and even the F-35 (Jetfighter V). In short, bringing shiny new airplanes to the PC is nothing new. And like they say...the gameplay is the thing. Everything I've read about AC:AH says it is pretty bad...even as an arcade shooter. It doesn't matter how shiny your new car is if it can't make the first corner... FC Quote
