The past few nights I have been flying for the Commie's (I am feeling a little red at the moment) using an installation of Aces of North Vietnam campaign.

Here is my observation - When I am assigned to intercept an incoming flight strike and I find that the bomber aircraft act like I am not there. They don't drop tanks or bombs to "clean up" the aircraft and they don't evade or engage. They fly straight ahead and are sitting ducks for gunnery passes.

The escorts are quite different and I have had some aggressive F4's firing missiles at me and F8's after me with missiles and guns.

Is there an AI mod that would get the bombers to evade at least?

The MIGS in Vietnam were as successful by interupting the bombing runs as they were by actually shooting down the bombers. Often the F105s would have to dumb bombs to evade and even engage and that stopped the bombs from falling on the intended target. I wish I could replicate this in the campaign.

Any suggestions?

AI has always been one of the "untouchables".

There is no configuration files to monkey with, just hard-wired.

I've noticed in SF:P1-SP3.1/WoV-SP2.0, the timings are now WAY off.

I usually fly strikes, and it was not unusual for your flight to hit the target area a bit (1-3 min's)

earlier than escorts, SEAD, etc. Now the assistance flights are WAY behind, 80-100+ miles

back.

Unfortunately, the enemy interceptors are Johny on the spot, and have a force to deal with ALL

flights, not just yours.

The easy fix is to hit your IP, then backtrack to the escorts, so you don't get totaled on ingress.

Or, more usually, egress, but it really makes it tough to get any A2A kills...
