Early versions really weren't that good with very tight limits to their sensors. Just in case you didn't know a lock is signalled by an increased level of growl. Quote
DerAlte Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I wait untill I am under 2 miles and wait for a constant tone, them aim the pipper just alittle above the target. The best thing is to always (even with later sidewinders) to fire from the rear cone. It seems some of the IR missles are alittle better than the others. Early AIM-9B's go ballistic very easy.
