Pete Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Hi Chaps A couple of screen shots from FS2004 of one of the greatest aircraft of all time XH558 Delta Lady which hopefully we should be getting flying again next year. Quote
subarug Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I saw one on the ground at an in-accesable part of an RAF mueseum... I think it was in Desert Cammo (did that ever happen?) but I was about 7 and that would of been in 87 or 88 (In other words I might NOT of seen the desert cammo vulcan my memory shows me) There was however a Gorgeous Lightning inside! Ill never forget that! Quote
Pete Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Hi Mate I can't recall ever seeing a Vulcan in desert camo. They painted the Victor in desert camo for the first gulf war as a refueling plane. I will look into it & get back to you. By the way the E.E Lightning what a machine. All the Best Pete Quote
Pete Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Hi Mate I looked in all my vulcan books & there isn't one in camo markings>I think what you saw was a K2 Victor tanker.Pictures below Cheers Pete Quote
subarug Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 That was prob it... how many landing wheels are in the rear of the victor.... I remember a ton of wheels lol... I wish i still had the pictures Quote
Pete Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Hi Mate The Victor had 8 wheels per undercarriage strutt at the back & 2 on the front. Quote
subarug Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 That was it then I remember a row of 8 wheels... 86 it was... Well not a Vulcan but Victors are cool anyways! Quote

BUFF Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 It's an ugly beast is the Victor That's not ugly, that's character that is ;) Outperformed & outlasted the Vulcan Love 'em both, & Lightnings & Buccs :) Quote
subarug Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Victor reached Mach 1.1 and at the time could only be intercepted by Voodoo's! The film was great... That Vulcan sure pulls up hard on take off...incredible... I had no idea it was that agile. I like the Victor because it looks like something out of a science fiction anime.... I keep waiting for it to transform into a Petrol truck or something! Lightnings and Buccs forever! Quote
Pete Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 The Vulcan is a graceful old lady. But she could still kick ass if required. The Victor is also a nice old aircraft but unfortunatley there are no plans to get one flying again. That would be a treat. Its a shame in the UK the CAA don't let the bucks & lightnings fly here,I guess i'll have to head to south africa.Got relatives that live just over the boarder in Botswana,Will have to pay them a visit.Did you like the 558 wallpaper would make a calender.(hint) Quote
Pete Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 Nice Where did you get the Victor from Cheers Pete Quote
subarug Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 The Victor was from Freeware FS Master Kazunori Ito Here is the Vulcan W/ Blue Steel equipped... Quote
Pete Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 Nice She really is a good looking aircraft. Better than anything our American friends have produced over the years Cheers Pete Quote
subarug Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 As much as I love the Vulcan as a statement for me at least of my British heritage, every nation (mostly) has had some beautiful aircraft... P-51 Corsair F-16 Su-27 Tu-160 Spitfire Vulcan Lightning Etendard Mirage 2000 Rafale BF-109 I mean the list can go on and on... What I think is interesting is how diff. needs, and design techniques can create such diff. end results. Whenever I get time to visit my family back in Foxholes, I can only hope the Vulcan is in the air. Quote
Pete Posted September 3, 2005 Author Posted September 3, 2005 I guess you're right mate,I retract my last statement. You only missed 1 off your list Rockwell B1-b Cheers Pete Quote
subarug Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 LoL Your right... That was on my list... I remember I had a book called Great warplanes of the 1980's which had some great pull outs and skematics, and when I got to the B-1 and saw its payload options, I almost passed out.Awesome plane...its just to bad it has a tricky past with a lot of accidents. Pete Posted September 3, 2005 Author Posted September 3, 2005 Hi Chap Just a few photographs I have taken of some of my favourate aircraft F15 at Mildenhall Vampire at Waddington Tornado F3 at RAF Fairford Rockwell B1-b at Mildenhall Hope you like Cheers Pete Quote
