VA-6 Black Rams at China Lake

The latest squadron to be assigned to the USS Ten Bears (CVN-84) began work ups after it's commissioning ceremony at Naval Weapons Center China Lake. VB-6 Black Rams take their liniage from Bombing Squadron Six of World War II which served aboard USS Enterprise (CV-6) in the Pacific Theater. The squadron's first operational detachment day went splendedly with the lead aircraft of the afternoon strike package delivering one Paveway laser guided 2,000 pound bomb, four Mark 20 Rockeye cluster bombs and twelve Mark 82 500 pound bombs on range targets with a hit rate of 98 percent.
