Greetings all, Just thought I'd drop a line here alerting all those fervent Aussie flight and air combat simmers to a major event coming up later in 2004, the inaugural Australian Flight Simulation Expo You can find out all about it here: http://ozfs-expo.com/ Of course it doesn't have to be just Aussies, any one is welcome if you can get there. :-) It should be a great event and likely the largest in the southern hemisphere.   2. For those that weren't aware an RB3D LAN meet is being held on Saturday, August 28, 9am - 9pm in Sydney as part of the Australian Flight Simulation Expo. Entry is $15 and there is ample parking available for $10 for the whole day. The RB3D part of the LAN is being coordinated by 'Jolly' of the RAC and apart from just flying dogfights there will be a 'Top Gun' comp held in the afternoon. Prizes include a complete CH HOTAS comprising of F16 Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals as well as a Combatstick and CH Yoke courtesy of PC Aviator and CH Products, 10 copies of Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 courtesy of Microsoft Australia and 20 subscriptions to Computer Pilot Magazine. There will also be trophies awarded to the place getters in the Top Gun comp. Entry to the LAN also gets you entry to the Aust. Flight Sim Expo exhibition areas and access to the seminar area where there will be speakers such as RAAF F18 pilot and defence simulation specialist Flt. Lt. Tom 'Houch' Gleeson, flight sim historian Peter 'MigMan' Inglis and flight sim novel 'Get Real' author Bill Smith. There will also be a number of flight simulation movies shown throughout the day including a 45 min Discovery Wings channel documentary. For those coming in from interstate (or even overseas) that don't want to bring their pc but would like to take part in the event hire pc's (laptops through to high end P4's or just monitors if you choose to bring your box and peripherals) are available for the day through MicroHire at special Aussie Expo rates, just ask for Guy and mention you'll be at the Aussie Flight Sim Expo. Registration before the event is not mandatory but is strongly advised to avoid delays in entering the LAN due to the venues security procedures. The IL2 part of the LAN is being coordinated by 'Rusky' of No457 Sqn. and apart from just flying TE missions, dogfights and campaign there will also be a 'Top Gun' comp held in the afternoon. Prizes include a complete CH HOTAS comprising of F16 Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals as well as a Combatstick and CH Yoke courtesy of PC Aviator and CH Products, 10 copies of Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 courtesy of Microsoft Australia and 20 subscriptions to Computer Pilot Magazine. UbiSoft will be in attendance showing off a late code demo version of Pacific Fighters which may well also be available for use by a special chosen few over the LAN. Entry is $15 and there is ample parking available for $10 for the whole day. The MSFS part of the LAN is being run by 'Numrod' of the Virtual Aust. Air Force & 'Burger' of the Adelaide Flight Sim Club and apart from just flying around there will be some fun comps held throughout the day.
