Mine is set up as Tailspin describes in his last tweaking. Seems good! We have to remember we are tyring to use an early 21st Century computer to replicate an early 20th Century aircraft!! It's going to be hard to get it to just right. Also I think how you "Feel" an aircraft should fly dictates whether you like a certain FM or not. If you can fly in real life that again puts another perspective on what you enjoy.

I have amended my camel and I feel it is heaps better. Also I have not touched the throttle in anyway.

I was dogfighting two Albatross 1's. Sent one down in flames. The other, after I put a few bullets into him did the most stupid manouver I have seen and buried himself into French soil. Won the mission!! Great!! Get back to base to find I am credited with one kill!! I am assuming this was my flamer!! Why was I not credited with my second kill? Is frightening the enemy into crashing not good enough? Hell I sweated blood for those kills! Just because the Boch employ airmen who can't fly, please don't deprive me of my laurels!!

Hi Helmut welcome to the forum! It is all a bit confusing for a newbie! But they are a great bunch here and will really help you get the best from your sim! I have only been active a short while here but have found out a great deal. The patience of people here is great. Especially explaining things to a technophobe like me! Check out the Thread on the "Camel FM" I started. Now my camel acts like a camel. No I don't mean spitting and cr--ing all over the place or harbouring a complete tribe of fleas! it is skittish and fights you in the turn but like the real camel fantastic when you master it. Living long enough to master it is the only snag!! There is a great deal of scope in this sim. Again welcome!

Recently I have had an occasion where I have shot at an enemy aircraft (Usually a Halbersat 2, the cockit becomes empty, the prop stops but the aircraft just hangs in the air and does'nt fall at all!!! What gives? Has the pilot parked up and popped out for a packet of fags? Reminds me of the rather dim passenger in a Dakota. On a training flight one of the engines fails. The worried passenger asks the pilot what will happen the pilot says not to worry as the Dak can easily fly on one engine but they will be about 30 mins late on their ETA. "Blimey" says the passenger " I hope the other engine holds out or we'll be stuck up here all day!"

Well I now have totally white Albatross with German markings. Very stranger!!!

My Wife's Grandfather flew in WW1. He started on FE2B's on 25Sqn and later Camels. He told my wife that often you found holes in your machine when you had no idea you had been a target! He also said on occasion you knew you had been hit! especially if a bullet hit the taut fabric anywhere near the pilot. He said it sounded like the noise you make when you puncture the foil seal on a jar of coffee by punching a teaspoon through it!!! He said the engine drowned out most sounds but somethings you still could hear. He thought it may have something to do with the pitch of the noise rather than it's volume.

I look forward to your findings!

Thanks! I will check that out.

Thanks for the replies and the suggestion. I will try that. I am surprised torque cannot be modelled! Perhaps one could simulate it on rotary engined machines by tweaking the ailerons to dip in the opposite direction to the prop rotation. Anyone think it workable?

All my Albatross aircraft are blank white with no colour. This is both AI and player aircraft. I have checked the aircraft folders and all the skins seem to be there. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

I am no moder at all so I am not in a position to critise but does anyone think the Sopwith Camel in FE should be a bit more skittish? Especially in a right turn. The Camel was supposed to dip it's nose in a right turn and lift it in a left turn. Due to the torque of the engine. I have the fantastic new FM's but the Camel still seems a little easy in a right turn to me. The Camel could very easily snap into a spin in a right turn.

You may be right! However you could be barking up the wrong tree!!! There is the actual tale of a WW1 pilot whilst on a training flight in dear old Blighty had the misfortune to crash into a tree on a farm. The intrepid aviator managed to climb out of the aircraft and down the tree just as the farmer arrives "I say, have you had a crash?" asked the concerned farmer "No!" replies the aviator "I always bloody well land like that!"
-
Okay as your all so clever, Whats the pilots name and what did he have for breakfast?
-
There is always one in every group Okay what type of tree is it then?
-
How do you get into multiplayer games with First Eagles? I would love to give it ago!
-
Fantastic! Great work Thanks
-
Now that would be just too easy

Thanks for that. A Jenny is one of the answers I got. Another was a BE2 and also an Avro 504 which I think unlikely.

Anyone here tried the Take Command games by Mad Minute. I have Second Manassas. It is a superb simulation of the American Civil War. There is also an excellent Mod that converts it into Napoleonic warfare. Also I have the LordZ Napoleonic Total War 2 which is again first class and recently the English Civil War mod King or Country for Med Total War 2.

Can any of you experts identify which aircraft it is hanging in the tree in my avatar? I have searched and found three different answers!!
-
I am dusting off my old life preserver and white roll neck sweater as I type!
-
This looks great! A worthy addition to the stable of aircraft!

Top marks for Historical correctness
