Starforce Problems

I know there was a starforce patch for Vista that worked but that same patch doesn't seem to want to play on Windows 7. Or is there some way of installing it that i'm doing wrong? If not then I guess its a case of waiting for the FC update coming out soon, although i'm slightly loathed to pay money when i'm quite happy to play the game as-is but for it just to work on Win7.
