  1. How does AF count destroyed targets !

I know, 6 Rocks were a waste of ammo but I had too much respect for the SA's. And the low BA was by reason of the SA-mix. High attack, no (SA-10), mid alt attack, no (SA-14). They only way was "through the treetops". Anyway, TNX for your replies.
  2. How does AF count destroyed targets !

I can't believe that another flight attacked this target after me. 1. 6 Rockeyes ( 3 pair, BA 1000 ) dropped in a single run on 5 targets standing close to close should have been more than enough 2. In doubt if there is still a threat in second run up I dropped all MK82 on the main radar ( destroyed ) and disappeared 3. Recon right after landing said: remainig targets 5 KraZ, 4 radars, radio tower ... 4. Minutes later I took off for a 2nd mission and found exactly the same situation ( another flight would have destroyed more than the 3 SA's )
  3. Engine just went off ...

The throttle idle detent is the STOP POSITION of your throttle movement . It is the point of engine idle and shall avoid to move the throttle more backwards than the minimum fuel feed position. If the detent is unlocked behind this position the engine gets no fuel anymore and stalls. You wrote your engine stopped suddenly. It happened to me too when I clicked the left edge of the screen to change the view. Unfortunately I exactly hit the area that clicks IDLE DETENT. Maybe that was the reason in your situation.
  4. Hi, I planned to attack an EWR. The recon-window showed 3 SA-10 and 2 SA-14 as "watchdogs", all close together. My idea was to finish them in low level flight with Rockeyes. So I set the steerpoint on the center target and dropped 6 Rockeyes there. ( just to make sure ) The debriefing said that I killed 1 SA-10 and 1 SA-14, but the recon after the mission showed that all of them were gone. Is it possible ( so I heard in a German Forum ), that the explosion of a SA-10 had destroyed three other targets quicker than my clusters so that they did not appear on my debriefing list ? A retreat of the AA-Batallion immidiately after the attack is unlikely, cause the KrAz-trucks were still there. Also a second attack of another flight cause I found all remaining targets in the next mission. Has anyone experienced something like this ?
  5. AMRAAM - multi shot ability ?

I watched a YouTube video about a F16. There was said, the radar can guide several missiles simultaneously. Does anyone know if this works in F4 AF when the radar is in TWS mode ?
  6. Two AN-24 were landing on an airstrip ( no airfield ) The first had a few gun hits, then my ammo was out. So I tried to finish them with Mav's on the ground. After the turn I could lock the first while it was just rolling to parking place. But I was too close and low to fire. After the 2. turn both AN24 were not to spot as if the earth had swallowed them up. Is this a bug in the game ? Otherwise I could destroy a parked MIG21 with a MK82 on an airfield. Does anyone know more or had similar situations ?
  7. Weird throttle problem

So let the enemy know, what an Icelander is !!!!! Good luck an have a lot of fun !!!!!!!
  8. Weird throttle problem

Hi Johann. the behaviour of the jet engine in my SIM looks like this: Throttle IDLE means about 70 % RPM, NOZZLE then 20 % at about 80 % RPM NOZZLE is zero from 101 to 105 % RPM NOZZLE moves from 0 to 100 % ( afterburner is on ) That is what the gauges show me. Your question sounds a little bit difficultly but again : engine idle is 70 % RPM, below this it won't run if you cannot reach the throttle range from 70 to 105 % RPM then I think the problem is a wrong calibration of your joystick. Try to calibrate it in your Operating System and in Falcon AF. Watch the point ( green line ) of the afterburner. Is it set too late or early ?? That is all I can say Greetings from Germany
  9. Flameout landing

TNX MigBuster ya it works. My mistake was to try it with alternate gear button in 2D cockpit. There the mouse cursor looks like an U and manual says "click and move or pull " That did not work. May be my mouse driver makes some trouble. For example in the setup it needs a few attempts till I can "lock" a little gray ball to move it left or right. ( or moving a steepoint on the map ) Anyway thanks again !
  10. Flameout landing

I wanted to practise the flameout landing training mission. But each try ended in a belly landing cause the gear said NO. - engine was off - I switched EPU on - all stores dropped - tower knew about emergency - ILS works - AIRBRAKE works - flight controls OK only the gear went on strike, no chance with G-key, clicking gear lever - no result I've found nothing in the manual. Is it a program bug or something I've forgotten to do ? TNX for your replies
  11. F4:AF Ranks and medals

Shortly after my last reply I was MIA, a reason for me to abort campaign and start a new with new logbook. ( a missed pilot can't fly anymore ) It appears to me that a promotion comes with the number of targets killed. My current "career" : Operation Powderkeg ( full realism, no discarded mission, no KIA or MIA, no pic with the "judges mallet" ) 1. Ltnt after 12 missions, 10.7 flight hrs AA - 5 AG - 44 ST - 22 ( 71 kills ) Rating: 4.917 Capt. after 24 missions, 24.2 flight hrs AA - 12 AG - 102 ST - 33 ( 147 kills ) Rating: 4.875 Looks like after each 70 kills you'll see the "shaking hands" But I'm still waiting for the first medal !!!
  12. Vehicles on runway

If I would have known that my question leads to this discussion, I'd never have asked ! What I wanted to know was if somebody could declare this situation in the SIM !!! CALI is right when he says this would never happen under airforce rules. And a runway inspection on an Intl. Airport has nothing to do with my question. A criminal in a pick up either. SRY for my english, I'm German, quasi a "KRAUT" :-)
  13. Labels?

I think it's a kind of self deceit to use such "helpful things". Well, the graphics could be better, but in real life army vehicles do not pass by fine red painted on white roads. Try to spot a tank with camouflage painting while flying 300 kts at 5000 ft. Almost no chance. My advice, if you want to enjoy the SIM ( not game ) : - set full realism - do not just pick a mission and takeoff without some preparation - use the options the map gives you. click on the map and let display the current locations of enemy forces ( ground units, factories and so on and so on ) All these are recon informations coming from AWACS or other units. One example for an interdiction run. 1. Let time pass till 10 mins before takeoff and stop it 2. Read briefing that you know about target, threats and cloud altitude 3. Click on the enemy units in your target area, select RECON ( on the map ) You'll see all kind of vehicles and their locations. Memorize landmarks in the area ( for example units are between airfield and village XY or at the east end of a runway ) 4. Calculate the whole situation ( do you have to kill a SAM-guiding radar first, do you have to fly in dangerous range of AAA -ZSU, KS19, IR-SAMS (SA7 ... ) ) 5. Choose your targets and weapons. If you are going to attack tanks and you can avoid the range of AAA/SAM then Maverick's are good. 6. Move the target steerpoint over the enemy unit ( map ), other steerpoints should not lead you through AAA fire ! 7. Takeoff, while heading to the target, switch radar off. Use the time to prepare! Select chaff/flare program - request AWACS picture every now and then, choose AG-mode ( radar off again ! ), MASTER ARM ON, click SMS, choose Mavericks, power ON, uncage each off them by pressing U-key, then STEP in MFD, and U again, STEP again .... ) till all seeker heads are free. ( saves a lot of time when attacking ) 8. You reach 40 miles to target ( in the best case no enemy aircraft around, AWACS pic clear ) Switch on ground radar, select SNOWPLOW (SP) and check range. Switch to WPM mode and use the ARROW-KEYS to scan target area ( 40 miles are far away, but you can early find the area ( between airfield and village or so ) and you know where to search. Within 20 miles you should find the first targets. Push 0 (zero) and finetune the target, push 0 again. Be prepared to click OBS 3 ( FOV-EXP ). Now throttle to idle, nose down to targets, AIRBRAKE. Once the target is in range, fire, click OBS 3, choose next target-push 0-fire and so on. If you are quick, you do not need to "freeze" and can fire all rifles in one run. 9. Turn immidiatly, AIRBRAKE OFF, full throttle, switch MFD to HSD, find your waypoint home, select CAT-switch if necessary to CAT1, RADAR OFF 10. Ask AWACS for picture. If there is a threat, climb, select AA-mode and react 11. otherwise climb to 30.000 - 35.000 ft, 100 % throttle and head home The debriefing should say: 6 rifles-6 hits, EXCELLENT I think "that is the way having fun with ALLIED FORCE". No labels and no forbidden help. As kids we used to play "hide and seek". ( 40 years ago !! ) Would it have been fun if you would have heard " Her I am, catch me !! " With this in mind, give up the cheats and try to become a genuine F-16 (sim) pilot.
  14. F4:AF Ranks and medals

My first promotion was after 16 missions finished. Flight hrs: 12.3 AA-Kills : 20 AG-Kills : 43 Static : 8 Ranking : about 4.2 No cheats, 100 % reality. Have never discarded a mission because I've been honest to myself and started a new campaign with new logbook after shot down and not rescued. MIA or KIA means the campaign is over. But it was time to learn, to try ( and fail ) and to become better step by step. As often as an aircraft is available, I create my own mission without wingman. I prefer interdiction and strikes against important targets like EWR, airfields. Very helpful is to recon the targets about 10 mins before takeoff . By clicking a ground unit on the map you can gather valuable target informations like location and landmarks around what makes it easier to find the enemy. Once you know your targets you can choose the relevant weapons. And if there is only one SAM-guiding radar in the area it makes sense to carry an asymmetric weapons load. Only one HARM and the other wing station can be used for whatever you need. Sometimes the planning takes longer than the mission, but it increases the chance to be succesful significantly ! And do not forget your gun. In an area without SA's or AAA's a truck, fuel tank or a radar can be "easy meat". Last but not least. In the "heat of the action" it is very useful to mark the target area . Once you have found the enemy, locked with the ground radar then press the ICP MARK-button (7) and ENTER-button. You'll see a blue cross in your HSD that makes it easy to find back for the next target approach.
  15. How to Amraam/ Avoid being shot

I'm also still learning to survive in a campaign. My advices would be: 1. Target switching as far as I know: unlock the current target and lock a new one 2. You have the big weapon circle in your HUD. In this circle is another little on. The AMRAAM always tries to go on an intercept path. This little circle shows you where to steer to. If it is upper left located in the big circle, climb and turn left. Try to get it in the center. This is the perfect fire direction. To decide the launch distance you have to consider if there is a MIG29 approaching or you are chasing an AN24. In first case fire earlier and turn 180 degrees to avoid a missile 3. When a radar guided missile is fired on you, you will get a sound warning. An IR-missile cannot be detected by your RWR. If you have an enemy behind yourself and you are in doubts, release flares preventive. 5. If you have your target in sight, you can see the missile impact. Mostly you'll have changed flight direction and the solution comes with the debriefing. 6. Try to fire all your MRM's onto a different target and escape as fast as you can.
