When this game came out in 2000, I missed it. It was my lack of interest in helicopter simulation which made me overlooked. In the last 10 years, good simulation games getting less and less. I trust most hard-core gamers will define "good simulation" being nuts & bolts on every keystrokes on the keyboard, buttons on the stick and perhaps both combined. As for me, being a slightly hard-core gamers only, my expectations are not as vigorous as such, but I would definitely say "No" to arcade style flight simulation games as they feel more like action games in the air to me. I must admit that I am obsessed with tech-looking cockpit and MFD really gives me a hard-on! Specially the optical targeting system in the Apache, Ka-52 the Black Shark and other modern jet fighters. But then I don't quite like too advanced technologies like the JDAM which requires no skills in targeting them, or any other GPS kind of weapon systems. I believe GUNSHIP! is just about right. The other thing which really impresses me is that the graphics, though not top notch, still looks very good specially the clouds. The trees also looks good. And the aircraft itself still very presentable. Other features are the Pre-plan and the Debrief screen which I haven't seen something as good in recent years. Glad this simulation stands the time!!

Many thanks to you folks for all the help you have given to support my getting to know the game better. What I really meant was why the "Fligthsim.exe" executable from the virgin version of the box I purchased doesn't like the patch which I downloaded from Thirdwire? Did I get the so-called Wallmart version? I have noticed the same Wrench about the Korean mod. Holy Darkness for the first mission and all of them are empty under the pylons! Do you folks remember Sabre Ace? I believe we simmers have had put a lot efforts into this once acclaimed flight sim back in the 90's. I was just a bit retrospective about that and want to re-acquire the fun of playing some first generation jet fighters from Korean Mod, besides, the graphics of TK's series if not the first class, second class at the very least! I wish I could purchase a box of it rather than just downloading it from TW's site. Besides, I am used to eBay and Amazon now.

Where can I find the Korean Terrain?

Is it on sale on eBay or Amazon? I couldn't find it last time.

I think I have got Strike Fighter Gold now. In the home folder, there is another executable by the name of "SFG.EXE". If I want to run the Korean Mod http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=1494, Do I still need the weapon pack?

Too bad that I've just ordered 2 games, I should have included CFS3 in the same shipment as currently my relocation is outside the US. I'll have to wait until next time, some books are needed for my studies, will include that with CFS3 in the next deal. By the way is OFF free for download? Also, say after I've got CFS3, do I need to patch it up before installing OFF? Last but not least, where I might find manuals as to how to fly WWI aircrafts? Guess stalling is the most common and the most difficult to deal with...

Wow, that sounds great! I love European landscape actually and you are telling me that I can fly all the way from England to Switzerland. That's really wonderful! But given the aircraft speed being so slow, how long is the trip?

Hi folks, I love IL-2 1946 because of the graphics and the list of planes you can fly. But what upsets me mostly is stalling. I never get that problem when I fly any modern fighters. Any online manual or guide which teaches you how to fly without stalling. The manual which comes with the game doesn't exactly tell you the tricks. Besides, I am using Saitek Cyborg X joystick which is a bit stiff and requires a little bit of effort to maneuver....thanks!

I was trying to patch the vanilla version to patch 3.2 but it bailed out with an error message saying: "The file C:\PROGRA~1\STRATE~1\STRIKE~1\FlightSim.exe is not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded" Now what's wrong?

I want to know before I make a decision on the purchase. Impressed by Pacific Fighter when I watched the clip from YouTube. I love carrier landing! Does 1946 include the Pacific Theatre?

Hmm...looks like OFF might be CPU bounded. My Q6600 might limit its performance. But thanks for the info. I think my rig can't run Rise of Flight, suppose OFF is not a bad option.
