I know this is an old thread, but I presume, like myself, some people are still playing Activision's AH-64 Apache Longbow Assault, and there's a proper widescreen mod now available. Here's the link below. Widescreen & Fov Fix You will also need winmm.dll. 32bit version of Winmm.dll. Download both and copy files to the game directory. For me personally, the widescreen works, but the cockpit does not display properly, and the only fix I could find is to use dgVoodoo 2 v2.87.3. Download and copy the d3d8.dll to the game directory. Under Windows 10, there's also an external shadow glitch that I have yet to find a fix for, but at least you can now play it in widescreen, and the glitch isn't too bad.
